Certainly doesn't help that my 25/5 fixed wireless reduces to 3/4 during peak times. Fuck the Liberals and their piece of shit NBN.

Didnt ALP set the cvc pricing originally, pretty sure its gone down under LNP regardless of how crap their strategy is. Lol

I'd be surprised if HBO doesn't have separate infrastructure for itself versus its streaming partners

HBO doesn't stream it to Foxtel, that would be crazy.

When I visited the Telstra Global Operations Center a couple of years ago for a tour, they made it pretty clear they handle all data streaming for Foxtel. Unless that's changed in the last year or two then I'd suggest it was a Telstra capacity issue.

Or more that Foxtel didn't pay enough for capacity.

That too

I remember the room in the GOC with 100 TV screens where some poor shift worker sits all day and monitors the live streams on every channel. What a job.....

They last a couple of months, or a lifetime, at the GOC

I just realised that line makes it look like I get three quarters of my usual speed in peak time. I actually meant that I get 3Mbps down and 4Mbps up instead of 25/5 when I run a speedtest. Which actually is useless because we really aren't getting 3Mbps, because you could browse Facebook properly with that. But we can't even do that during peak times.

I have no issue with the NBN price, I have an issue with peak speed. Never mind, I didn't comprehend the statement before I replied. Cvc pricing being lower may well help, but it shouldn't need to in the first place.

Would be nice to have fibre but I doubt I would have got it out here in the sticks. My thinking was that the rest of the infrastructure might have been specced properly so that the speeds didn't trash during peak hours while downloading a video of a pixelated cat pushing something I can't quite make out off the table and landing on a... never mind it failed to load.
