You can't do a thing, if it Fails or you break it you have to get it repaired.
I get the idea behind it but they've implemented it awkwardly.

Just bought the limited edition Fire Emblem 3DS XL from ozgameshop even though I know I probably won't have time to play...

I own an Xbox360, PS3 and Wii.
Still on my first 360, still on my first PS3. On my THIRD Wii. Every time it breaks, I lose all my save games. Save games I backed up to SD don't work because of DRM / digital signing. The first replacement Wii was under warranty. The second cost me $100 to get replaced. Nintendo Aus tied my Nintendo Store account to the new console which is fine (I keep a record of all purchased games), but again all backed up titles to the SD card were useless, and I had to re-download everything again, and lost all my save games. Nintendo's method of tying things to physical consoles instead of accounts, and blocking transfers between devices doesn't work when things break. Very frustrating.

Agreed, it makes little sense. Why not have a steam like set up and simply lock use of that account to one console at a time. Sure you might get a little account duping going on ie activating the account on one console, download all the games then leave it disconnected from the internet and then activate the account on another console thus giving you two console with the same games etc but I doubt it would be too big of an issue. The only way I can see it really being abused is people buying everything and loading up many consoles with games and selling them as 'offline' consoles. Wouldn't be too hard to catch given at least some purchasers will inevitably end up online and leave enough hits/locked content to make it apparent what is going on. You'd just have one of the first checks done when the console comes online to see if it is registered to an account and if not lock down all the content it should not have access to. Being able to back up your save files or even automatic save file back up while connected to the net would be a nice addition. At the end of the day I think companies should spend less time worrying about the people who have no intention paying and spend more time providing the best product and service to those who are happy to pay for it.
