Question headphones quality

Hi before I buy one would attaching a USB extension cable reduce the audio quality.

I have Plantronics RIG 500 HD and I get great audio.
Thing is my computer is now wall mounted and the USB cable just reaches me in the chair.

So will I lose audio quality if I use a USB extension?
Or would I be better off just buying a USB bracket and connecting it to a header which would then give me lower USB ports to plug in to but still kind of a USB extension?

Thanks

Interesting question, I assume that a USB headset would have a digital output and covert it to analogue in the headset or via an external DAC somewhere?

If that is the case, digital signals are not as prone to distortion as it can be classed as an "all or nothing signal". Think of it as digital TV's vs Analogue, the digital TV signal strength does not = better TV quality. But if the signal is not complete, the picture will stutter (not going into some of the signal boosting tech though).

So as long as the USB extension is before the DAC, it shouldn't have any impact. But I am no audiophile, so don't quote me on it
