I see the re1 and 2s require amp to sound good. What are your thoughts?

edit: just read a review from head-fi "re0 beats er4p, rivals er4s"

Should an amp go with it? Someone suggested a fiio 3.

The RE0 does not require an amp, the Fiio E3 will make them louder (not needed) and add hiss etc. Running them without an amp is better than running them with a poor quality one.

Can I use a fiio 5 or something for something other than an mp3 player? Maybe connect it to the computer or the DS?

Well you can, but it wouldn't do anything except make it louder.
The DS has a pretty poor quality headphone out, so an amp will make it louder poor quality.
If you have a poor quality PC soundcard, an amp will make it a louder poor quality PC soundcard.

Grrrr....

I know this has question is asked everywhere...

I was closed to buy the AD700, but start reading more about the AD900 and it's starting to convince me more and more...

I'm planning to use this on my PC with a X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro, for games, music and movies (in that order)

Is the additional $120 difference worth it?

Has anyone tried both of them and felt that the AD900 is a big difference?

Does anyone knows a place in Sydney where I can try them both?

Thanks!

Let me first say that you will be using your headphones EVERY DAY. If you think about it, $120 is not much if you will be using it for 5 or so years. Think of it as an extra $120 over 5 years (which is 120/365x5 = a bit less than 7c per day)

Go ahead and get the better quality one. I have the 700 and they are good, but after hearing about the 900s I'm interested myself.

I'm looking for an upgrade from the Vsonic R02. Which canalphones would you recommend? I listen to a wide variety of music, but I do like a bit of bass.

Willing to spend up to $400 if they are worth the money.

Im looking for a closed set for about $200-300. Currently im using AD700's, and i like how they are so detailed, but i do need isolation from time to time.

Yes, there's a significant difference for music, but keep in mind neither the AD700 or AD900 are bassy, if that's something you're after.

AtrioM5/M8 or Sennheiser IE8 if you want something bassy.

Shure SRH840 perhaps
Very different sound to the AD700, so the A900 if you want something similar to the AD700 with isolation.

One of my fears is them breaking up...

I've had bad experience with headphones (never had high-range ones).
Or the cable got bad, or the headband broke, etc... So I have a little fear for them...

Loving the Shure 110's i got about a fortnight ago... great sound. Worth the money? totally.

am i still going to get some more headphones for when i get my Claro+ equipped computer back? hell yes!

looking at the AD900s, and they sounded brilliant when i went into headphonics for some test runs. i might head back in though, the AD1000s arent that much more (in the scheme of things... i'll just save for another couple of weeks). i read here they are better for jazz etc?

hey snufkin, i noticed headphonics and LSK share the same space:does that mean it is possible to take in my trumpet to test some headphones with? (ie, make some serious noise while trying headphones.)

One of the things i usually do with music is play along on my brass instruments, so before spending $350-$450, i would love to see if the headphones are up to the task (eg, canalphones arent, they block too much of the external sound).

(my laptop has a 3.5mm stereo jack, and it also has optical SPDIF output from the same port; would it be prudent to bring some connections to test some amps etc? what type of inputs do i need to be able to connect too? RCA stereo?)

Are the Shure SE530/SE530PTH's worth the money? or is it better bang for buck to stick with something under $400?

While I like bass, I'm not willing to sacrifice overall sound quality for more 'doof'.

I can't decide!!!! I will primarily be using un-amped sources (ie. iPods/iPhone)
