Default Project : Stacked

Hey Everyone,

So ive been running out of space inside my Thermaltake Armour case for all my HomeServer Stuff, and I stacked to look around for larger cases

After seeing that alot of the "Cube" cases are too much, or still dont hold enough drives, I decided to build\mod my own

So I hunted around trying to fine a suitable case which would hold enough drives, and decided on the CM Stacker 810

Thanks to nagnos and sonicthemouse I got these two :

The idea will be that I will bolt the two of these together (but hopefully keep the cases intact so they can be separated at a later date if need be)

More info to come

yeah Ive seen some of those Norco bays, but they arent cheap

Ill be looking at some 4 in 3 bays, probably these ones :

Also, the main reason I though i would post this worklog was that I couldnt find any "double" case mods online, so someone might find this useful

Are you going to stack them either:

a) side by side?
b) on top of each other?
c) some other fangled awesome contraption?

For giggles. Cos y'know... Stacker. Must have been done before but still cool (though impractical).

on top of each other would just be down right stupid - it would tip over just by looking at it wrong!

Ive got a Original Stacker x2 (One with dual PSU Bays)

Managed to get 20 Drives in there without any mods..

Great cases, best server cases every made i reckon. Can hold heaps of HDDS without any modding..

a Side by side, even though the idea came to me by seeing to cases lying on the sides on top of each other

I currently have 16 drives, and too much heat

I would have got a V2000, or even better a 343b but was unable to find them in AU

I've slowly been working on doing the same thing actually. I got my stackers stripped down and cleaned but havent progressed past that. I'll be watching this to pinch your ideas.

my effort at making my own cube case.

It can be reverted back to it's original form and can carry 200 kgs (tested so far) on top of it. specs in vid. I also considered a Lian li cube but the cost put me off. This cost me about $110 including the second case and holds more drives and 2 psu's.
