I remember that board - simply awesome, as were all their boards in that era.

Over the years I've had the BH6, BE6-II, BP6, KR7A, KT7, KT7A, NF7, NF7-S, IC7-G, AN8-Ultra, AB9-PRO

It's such a shame they went crap following the AB9, and then died off altogether...

EDIT:
I've just had a little browse on archive.org, and found a couple of old PCDB entries from 2002 & 2003!:

That "unique" controller was a buggy suck arse pos that I cut off my board. Yes I did, I literally cut the highpoint crap off. Anyone who cares to remember, would remember me doing that. Yea, I was a hardcore overclocker/tweaker back then. Hardware these days is nowhere near even being remotely interesting, let alone exciting, so yea, I don't care to tinker anymore.

I then upgraded to a far superior board being the asus p3v4x with a pentium3.
It's a shame you didn't use your Highpoint at the time it made all the people I knew VERY jealous as it was bloody quick when combined with a 7200RPM drive (these weren't plentiful at the time either).

I didn't find mine buggy at all, but then I updated my BIOS to the most stable version which updated the controller as well.

Great board, wish there were more unique boards like this out there today. Remembering at the time pretty much everything on the market was not enthusiast centered.

The P3V anthing was pretty rubbish too as the VIA chipsets at the time were quite unstable.

Due to one person not understanding the concept of "download what you need" (IP: 88.151.101.150, I'm talking to you), I have removed anonymous access to the server. If you wish to download from the server, please PM me and I'll create a user account for you. Sorry it takes an idiot to ruin it for everyone else....

Hey guys,

Could you point me in the right direction for

ABIT Fatal1ty AA8XE BIOS updates.

I had a project computer back in 2005 working with ALU and Copper. Currently the PC is sitting in the Philippines but when I do get it shipped back over here I'd like to see if I can crank the Prescott back up to where it was.

The KT7A did. I had one of those back in the day, and they definitely had an ISA slot. I used to run my old SB AWE32 in it

Used to run a Duron 700 in the KT7A. Good times

Me too,

I had a Duron 800 on mine overclocked to 950mhz I felt like a champ. Especially since you have to draw on the pins with a graphite pencil to bridge the connectors.

lukaspc, I've probably got that (I backed up the whole site too).

Could you clarify which firmware you need? As far as I know there was an IX38 QuadGT and an IX48 GT3. Are you after the IX48 GT3 firmware?

Er what? Abit were one of the best mobo manufacturers around in the '90s/'00s!

Absolutely. I remember there was a time when I just had a collection of 10+ quotes from OCAU, each along the lines of "get an NF7-S". Every time someone asked which mainboard to get, I'd just paste the quotes in and leave it at that.

Towards the end they did start to go downhill. The X38/X48 boards had a number of issues with 'normal' hardware combinations that Abit never resolved through BIOS updates. Even when priced way below any other board with comparable features they weren't really attractive.
