Just to hijack a little here...

I've been fleshing out my monitoring and want a way to track individual network usage to try and find people hammering the internet links.

What I've got so far:

Nagios + Check_mk - Covers all my servers, gets good info and with pnp4nagios pretty graphs - checks CPU/Memory/Disk usage, event logs, availability

Kaseya - For desktops mainly, availability, Windows Update status, general house keeping, some alarms (high CPU usage, low disk space, etc)

ntop - Collect netflow data from each sites router. Pretty, but fairly vague.

Squid + access log reporter (lightsquid or SARG) (+ Squidguardian for blacklisting) - Nice, but again can be vague.

I think I'll reinstall Cacti (graphs are sexy) but I'm still not sure about how to better grapple with internet usage. Lightsquid does a good job, but it feels like there should be one more level of detail - I can see that perhaps someone has done 130mb on one site, but I have no idea what that was - a video? Just pictures? Downloaded something?
