It's SS. Just don't break your omega bands! and make sure you get the band you want when you buy it =P If I somehow broke the clasp on mine, i'd find some way to replace the clasp rather than the whole band, or just put another leather strap on that wasnt omega. That's a pretty insane price for a band.

And that's fine tony. But when the watch itself cost around 2000 bucks brand new, it's a bit insane to ask for a third of the price for a replacement SS band. I'd argue that the actual watch (aside from the band) is much more than 2/3rds of the cost of the watch? I guess the huge price does put people off that would consider buying an omega band to put on their crappy watch though?
That being said, I suppose you could get your SS band fixed anyway and not have to buy a full replacement. I can't really imagine how you could break the ss band itself - could damage the clasp but it wouldnt be too hard to fix. |

Tag want $800 for a replacement leather strap for the Carrera with clasp. A replacement bracelet is like $1,200. Replacement leather strap for the IWC Big Pilot is over $2000. |

And they wonder why their bands and clasps get copied in China.

Personally, if the band/clasp really does break so badly that it can't be fixed on my seamaster (which is doubtful) i'll just get a different band for it rather than shelling out for an Omega bracelet. I do understand that these luxury items come at a luxury price, but in this case I think you pay more for the actual watch rather than the bracelet (at least that's how I see it). For 2000 bucks you can get some chunky solid gold bracelet most likely (not that I would...). |

i don't like leather bands but i like they deployment clasp leather bracelets though
btw. if you buy a $10k watch is $2k for band reasonable? i mean they probably don't want a situation where you can buy most of the parts of the watch for $1,000 if the whole watch is $10k |

No, it's not reasonable. 2k for a leather band? A really small piece of leather? Paying for the watch itself, there's alot of technology and craftmanship that goes into it. Lots of small little parts that have to work perfectly with each other etc, and the different finishes on the watch etc. I'm sure you all know the many reasons luxury watches cost alot of money - but a leather strap? There's just not much to it. Even if it's the best possible leather you can use, and the best looking and feeling leather strap in the world - 2k is excessive. I understand they dont want any joe bloggs getting their hands on an IWC strap n putting it on their Seiko or whatever, but surely you see the insanity in the pricing. You could get an incredible, tailored leather jacket for 2000 dollars made in the finest and toughest of leathers.

Mind you
Omega and IWC is hardly at the top of the food chain... you might like to ask how much a Vacheron Constantin might cost
