Or you can raze them for a short-term unhappiness hit, which is what I tend to do late-game, keep the ones with strategic resources I need or wish to deny the enemy and burn the rest to the ground.

Does both your happiness and social policy req reset after burning down? I can't remember but thought you didn't.

Enjoy the 0 day patch, at least forced to wait til weekend let's me skip the initial problems Oosh, let us know first impressions.

Reinstalled Civ V the other day in anticipation. played a bit.

Early game feels substantially better, Still suffer from carpet of doom style gridlock in the late game though.

I don't mind 1UPT as a mechanic, but I think it has been poorly implemented still. Especially as the AI is incredibly stupid regarding it.

Faith is an interesting mechanic. I look forward to playing with it a bit more when I don't have to work in the morning.

Its under $25 at a lot of places for a steam key.

Played for a few solid hours last night after dinner.

It may have been an unlucky start, but Barbarians were giving me a far harder time than usual, with the longer battles I found I needed two Warriors to reliably take down their Camps before they spawned another Grunt or Galley.

I probably should have cranked out Shrines earlier, my Capital is surrounded by Tundra but with 3 Deer resource tiles nearby, so once I finally got to it; choosing 'Goddess of the Hunt' (+1F from Camps) for my Pantheon came in enormously handy.

Popped a Great Prophet at 0AD so felt obliged to found Christianity, biased my beliefs towards Happiness and Culture bonuses, but you could really double-down on the faith use it to aggressively crank out military units with the right choices.

Looking forward to having a play with the Espionage system when I hit the Renaissance era.
So far so good.

The spies are quite ruthless in this expansion.. I had some in a game last night and they kept stealing all my tech..

Although in theory your opponents have a finite number of them (1 per age >= renaissance + 1 from a wonder) ... So just parking your own spy/spies in your largest cities should eventually leave the opposition with none.

No danger of losing tech here, only just catching up with some Emperor AIs, after being stranded on a continent alone until ocean going tech (meaning no research agreements and no selling/importing luxuries, playing as a civ (Holland) with a trade advantage... So a horrible start.) I've been keeping my two spies parked in a maritime city state each, rigging elections

The tactical AI is still disappointing - Austria was mocking me for having a tiny army, only to be facerolled by me ~10 turns later. That said, the Dutch UU *owns*, about half her attacks in the whole war were spent sinking frigates I'd taken off her as prizes It did seem a little bit smarter than I remember, seemingly knowing not to suicide it's units against the fortified line I took up just inside it's territory.

So far I'm preferring the religion mechanic to that in Civ4, although it's screaming "OP! OP! OP!" at me. With the choices I took, I can get +4 happiness, +4 culture, +5 faith per city out of my religion (admittedly I have to spawn two religious buildings in each to get that... started out slow but it's snowballing nicely.)

I'm almost tempted to build a shrine before a worker next time, religion seems that good

I heard that of some people too. I bought one off Greenman Gaming and have no key yet.................and according to them they can't give out keys until the 22nd?

LOL really? I placed the order and not 2 mins later I had a key.. I didn't use a dodgy address or anything.. i placed the order late last week so maybe they weren't onto it then?
