Besides the fact that IE practically crippled internet users with malware/spyware/adware/pop ups and annoyed the shit out of web designers for nearly a decade?

I find Chrome developer tools a little clunky compared to firebug/web developer toolbar. Particularly annoying is the tendency for Chrome to cache CSS even after you turn cache off. I tend to use chrome / firefox about 49% of the time each, and IE9 about 2% of the time. All three latest versions are miles in front of where any of them were even 12 months ago. The real problem is people with out of date browsers. IE8 is a little limiting, and IE7 is terrible if you want to do anything modern. Chrome has some niggles too. |

I use firefox as my browser, but only because of the plugins.
I install ie 9 on everyone else's machines. Check out Tools/Manage Add-Ons/Tracking Protection.

was a bit sneaky but I use to change the firefox shortcut icon to ie's icon then delete the true ie shortcuts on all the families computers. Made sure everyone wasen't using crappy ie.

The users bear a good portion of responsibility for going to dodgy websites in the first place. You can get all of these things you mention from other browsers also. And besides it depends on what version you are referring to.

Chrome at home, firefox (portable) at work. Use IE9 at work as well for accessing particular equipment.
Wouldnt use IE if i could avoid it. the interface and speed isnt really up to what i expect. Same reason why i stopped using firefox at home, though thats improved. Though could possibly go back to using firefox exclusively but cant be bothered to transfer everything over to firefox, nor would it sync to my phone and tablet as chrome does. I also find that firefox is still less stable then chrome, though im a tab whore (3-4 windows, 20 tabs each). Just wish that work would install chrome so i can use it there. Really annoys me that i cant use one consistent application.

i still cant understand why some say firefox is unstable, wish someone would elaborate on this, because i have no issues with it at all.
firefox just gets better with each new release in my opinion, and i dont understand how anyone can use IE, because i think it just gets worse with each version. then again thats just me, and i still have never known anyone who prefers IE over firefox (except one) i have to admit that firefox default setup is a pain in the butt, the way it appears when i open it can be a real pain, but once i tweak it to the way i like it, it just shits on IE. im going to install chrome again on my download box and have another play with it, didnt like it last time i tried it. |

I used to used Firefox for years and then switched to chrome because it had a sync feature so I could sync bookmarks etc between work, home and laptop.... that didn't work very well for me. Firefox then released the same function which works perfectly so I am back on Firefox. The only problem is the Firefox browser on android is slow.

Opera for me. I have 4 buttons total (menu, RSS feed, Bookmarks, Closed tabs) and everything else is done with mouse gestures. I have my tabs on the left, displaying thumbnails, and speed dial clean and full of tabs. I can't get that on other browsers.

I used to use Firefox for a long time, but had an older computer and found it started getting fairly slow. Switched to Chrome and haven't looked back. I did initially miss my RSS Bookmarks, but RSS Live Links has fixed that for me.
The only time I ever use IE is at home when I'm using Remote Web Workplace.

Even professionally, I'm not a fan of opening IE for testing.
I develop 80% of the time in Firefox only because of Firebug/FirePHP, whilst 19% of the time I use Chrome with work's CRM, Gmail, etc. open. I find Developer Tools in Webkit browsers a pain at times, namely with JSONP handling. The other 1% of the time, is when our tester finds out I haven't looked at something in IE7-9 (usually in Compatibility Mode, or an XP VM worst case scenario).
