So i've been listening to these a fair bit lately, and I have to say the Atrio M5's sound phenomenal, even when paired with my Samsung Galaxy S2 as a media player. Only issue is the tips, I find the flanged tips very uncomfortable for long periods of time. My ear canals are small, but too small for the small size (don't get a proper seal which ruins the sound). The mediums get a good seal, but it's fidgety, and it can irritate my ears after a while as they feel a tiny bit big. Perhaps I should invest in some aftermarket tips. On the whole though, pretty happy.

If you can, try a pair of Phonak Audeos. Brillant canalphone.
I love them but my right ear is funny and changes over the day. Odd I know. Either way, they're not always comfortable for me so off they go ![]() Paid $130 for em, so they're in your price range. I'll probably end up with getting a Yuin G2A for $50 as it seem ear clips are the only that work well with my stupid head

I don't mean to hijack, but are there any canalphones that compare to the LCD-2s interms of their bass response and slightly warm treble? I tend to find that flat response but deeper bass is alot better than exaggerated bass and my ears are extremely sensitive to treble

Just looking for a similar sound signature, probably looking at spending anything from $100 to $300, could push it a little, really depends.

Having not heard the LCD2 I can't really help :P Atrios might do it. Something reasonably nuetral with a slight warm/laid back signature at a *guess*.

I also have the Yuin G1a for home use which is excellent so the G2a's shouldn't be too far off!

Yeah I still think the Atrio M5's are a bit overpriced. $140 is probably all I think they're worth. The build quality scares me a little bit
. They just don't look or feel like $200 canalphones... in fact, my old $60 logitech ultimate ears had better build quality.

Looks and feel aside, the sound quality of the M5 is well above ~$150 offerings.
Most canalphones don't really put looks that high on the priority list - wear some bling earrings if you want ear fashion. Build quality is pretty much on par with most canal models around the same price (and above in many cases) - we've never had any build or reliability issues with them, which I can't say for brands like UE (post-Logitech buyout the failure rate was huge and after sales support lacking). |

You're probably right there, they do sound phenomenal. I couldn't give a stuff about the aesthetics, lol. Just feel that they wouldn't last a couple of years of being tossed around. Maybe I'm wrong, and they're tougher than they appear.
My only real gripe at the moment are the tips. I can't use them in a normal fashion, they just tend to fall out, or not seal properly. The only way I can get a decent fit is by using them upside down over the ear. I was thinking of trying some aftermarket tips, do you think it would help with my issue? And how long should I expect aftermarket tips to last? |
