pricing in US for ASUS boards is fairly close to AUD pricing

However, the Gigabyte UD5 is over priced by more than $100 relatively speaking.
In the US, the ASUS z77 pro is higher in price than the UD5 - this is the complete reverse here in Australia, and the difference is significant.
This makes the Gigabyte boards uncompetitive in Australia and I hope consumers vote with their wallets.

As a retailer, I wouldn't bother stocking the UD5 at the current suggested pricing. Clearly the distributor is excessively marking up the UD5, and for that, they deserve to miss out on the Z77 revenue

Perhaps the price will go down after release, I honestly thought the US price was a bit low, perhaps it is just some gouging as much as they can. The UD3H though offers the same OC features, and works great as well, but lacks the dual NIC, the Audio, and the Last PCI-E 16x slot on the UD3H is PCI-E 2.0 not 3.0 like on the UD5H.

Ture, the tech isn't crap, however the way it is marketed is. This isn't some technology only ASUS has, or the only way to get high memory clocks, GIGABYTE boards can do 3GHz with 16GB in all 4-DIMMs. Instead of making broad statements i think ASUS should show the same or better.

It is simply doubling up the traces, so instead of having channel one goto slot B and then Slot A piggy back off Slot B, slot A also gets its own direct trace. however slots B and Slot D get its own traces because slot D and C are on the second channel, thus if you use Slot B and D(which is where you normally put two sticks) you wont see any benefit from this technology.

IMO its a great idea, just not something you should advertise with a snippet randomly placed on the front page of one of the most popular reviews of the Month without any other clarification People just go thinking crazy things, but you can clearly see it is just way overstated, I think its good that they went above and beyond, however it isn't something that would surprise any engineer. it is simple, instead of going off your neighbor, get your own.

Slightly off topic but I brought a Triumph Thunderbird and basically in the US of A it was $9000 cheaper then in Oz ( and the Ozzie dollar was stronger then the greenback )and both countries import the bike from pommyland. Here in Oz we are to small a market to worry about and we get gouged big-time...

Considered the UD3H but I know i will regret it later so am considering the Sabertooth Z77 or the UD5H........have had a great run with Gigabyte mobos until the Z68 heap of shit but that is making me hesitate about going Gigabyte again

who'd you get it through Durham?

that newegg price looks awesome but they dont ship int'l. well aside from Canada and China, now? that wasnt there last time i visited (a long while ago now admittedly). need to look up shop the states and similar to see if they'll pass on a newegg ship and how much its going to cost for the privilege. that newegg price is really the best ive seen so far....

/edit: shopthestates doesnt exist anymore, VIAddress concierge service looks the best way to access a Newegg purchase....

Sin is 100% right and great review as well! I been benching the UD3H and can tell you no issues at all, boots fast runs perfect BIG up to Gigabyte excellent come back.

I put up a post on the UD3H here if you want to see some light benching

Will be working the 3770K retail as well once the NDA is lifted will post it to the link above.

But Sin is spot on, these are great boards feels good to be back on them

Ya know what I like about ASUS atm? They are not afraid to drop the PCI. Why won't PCI just FOAD!

Pet hate for all new boards atm. Just 2 Sata3 outputs FFS! I'm sure Sata3 has been out long enough to be the dominant port.

Will probably get another Sabertooth but am a bit wary of that shroud fouling with a H100 mounted up top. the P67 was touch and go.

Would really like to see a Gigabyte Z77 Sniper with Xfi before I decide. Hopefully they will drop those stupid bloody heat sinks.

There is a USB 3.0 front panel bay included as well. Considering the board has a whopping 3 internal USB 3.0 headers I would think a front panel bay is appropriate.

looking on a couple of hardware vendors they dont mention the front panel bay
in the WB-hi-fi version ?

if it does include the panel I assume its a 3 1/2 inch panel which is a pain as my case doesn't have 3 1/2 bay

edit :doesnt matter as I have ordered one today ....

yes theres plenty of 5.25"->3.5" adaptors around.

something like this, yeah? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Plastic-5...item23189ff902

mount your 3.5 panel in that and away you go.
