Default Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9/10.1 Owners Club

I don't think there is one, is there?

So, I had an Asus TF101 Transformer and now I have the SGT 8.9 3G 16Gb in soft black.
I love it very much. Its a great size, and is quite light.

The screen is nicely variable for brightness, and I do miss the haptic feedback.
The LCD is a little over saturated, but the slightly higher PPI is a welcome addition.
Great battery life so far.

Cons would be;
The plastic backing can creak in a couple of spots. (but this is not noticeable with a case on it.

NO expandable memory card slot. (I hated this)

LCD visibility in direct light does detract quite dramatatically from the usually gorgeous display indoors. (the TF101 had a better LCD)

Oh, and the firmware out of the box is simply a bit laggy. It really lets down the devices capabilities a great deal... So half arsed from Samsung. They need to ensure that there is a user experience that is polished to win over more people.

Have bought a bunch of accessories from ebay (genuine book case, usb connection kit, leather pouch, dock) Also got 'ipad' styled cases too.

Just FYI, there are a selection of SGT8.9 accessories at Telstra stores too (which is nice).

This is a teardown of the 8.9:

yup, i got a 10.1 to replace the iPhad3

i agree that the OS out of the box is crap thanks to Samsungs touchJizz.

just wish there was a fully working (both cameras working) ICS rom for it.

Yay. 1 + 1 = 2!

Try overcome (is there one for 10.1). Its still honeycomb, but quite zippy.

I dont use the camera at all anyway, but there are some little bugs that need to be ironed out with the ICS builds in the meantime. Its not bad with ICS overall, ill look into it again soon. Was on overcome, galaxian soup. but couldn't get CM9 to install...

Yeah that was great.

Is there an ETA of ICS for the SGT's?

(tight*r5e)

im selling a couple incase you're interested.
otherwise, for max slimness and invisibility
try:
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/...ns-shields.php

Always liked these. I found that they aren't great on really rounded or curved surfaces as they are prone to lifting, and then dusting etc. but good scratch protection and adds a bit of grip too.

Looks like its $35 for the full skin. maybe we can buy together? Dont know If i want one... I like the idea though.

Which dock you using? I have the one that charges and has audio out. which i have not used AT ALL... but check out this sweet mod...:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1610832

wanna do this! but will look into it when I have more time... cool ey? Looks kind of shit, but should have been like this in the first place.

I've also found that the Apple bluetooth wireless keyboard works REALLY well with the tablet...
most of the multi function media control and escape keys work. hell, the app switch button works too!

Oh and btw. thats funny as!
does that tablet not leave home much? or you simply dungivafark?

zagg one is pretty expensive compared to the 'best skins ever' its only $19 for full body skin.
ive bought one for my old nexus one, my galaxy nexus and also the iphad3 before i sold it.

thats the same dock i have so pretty cool knowing you can mod it. although i only ever use it to charge the tab overnight.
ill never use a keyboard with the tab, as i hardly ever used it with the tf101

the tab basically goes wherever i go thats why i left that plastic on it lol
i dont treat my gadgets nicely otherwise it would of been more scratched up without the plastic on it with my keys and stuff in the bag

shit thats cheap....

is the 'grade' different with the two? Zagg was the original maybe? but it claims to be 'military grade' 'can't pierce etc.
but seriously, how freaking strong you want it?

How's the galaxy nexus? wouldn't mind one to play around with and use for a bit. SGS2 is fine, but want to see what else there is to offer.

Yeah, i don't think I would too 9use KB). but missus was using it on hers, and works very well

you NEED a skin or a case!

the skin definitely wont fit the dock?

I had an S2 coming from a nexus one but the touchjizz stuff killed me. Ruined the experience for me but its a great piece of hardware.
Once you go proper android nexus experience you'll never go back to third party supported phones

I might purchase the best skins ever tomorrow

I managed to pick one of these up for 27 bucks off ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Sams...item1e68b513d2

Took almost a month to arrive, but its the nicest case I have seen, feels really good, is slim and offers protection for both front and back.
