Hi,
Thanks for the comparison, I am sure it will help many. The W110ER is certainly not meant to be an ultrabook type machine, but I still think it deserves to be called an ultraportable, considering the level of processing and graphical processing power. Yes the power supply is pretty big, but this machines uses 90w of power, again it would be hard to make it any smaller. I hope you enjoy your new machine!

Thanks for the review / compare with another laptop
Hard to work out what i want to get. This laptop is good value and could get an extra battery for longer life. Or do i go an ultrabook like the dell one or hp and not be able to do any gaming.... but have the long battery. |

That was my benchmark you are referring to and it was a browser test dedicated GPU not active and ended up with a little over 3.5 hours. I am beginning to wonder if something is wrong with my battery or laptop though because other reviews/reports are showing at least over 4 hours with light use and I am lucky to exceed 3.5 hours. In any case thanks for sharing your thoughts. |

Hi,
If you can PM me the tests you were running I will gladly replicate it on our test machine. If it is showing a significantly different amount well we can then try and work out what is happening. I can do this on Monday for you, for your peace of mind. Thanks, Jack.

That's a great idea Jack, if you can replicate the benchmark as accurately as possible to the one by HT then it would definitely clarify the actually battery life after hearing many varying reports.

Just to make it simple, select balanced mode, set brightness to 50%, and obviously make sure to set it so your system doesn't turn off or sleep or hibernate or screen turn off. I used Firefox and add-in ReloadEvery to reload a light flash page like yahoo.com every one minute. Then just let it run and note time at 5% battery. If you can't be present while it's running let me know as I made a simple batch file that I set to start 3 hours automatically after I unplug and it just logs the time every 60 seconds to a file, and last logged time when it shuts down or hibernates. Obviously note time when you unplugged though. Thanks. |

G'day jack
I've almost bought one of these guys, they seem awesome. But I'm tossing up between something with a slightly bigger screen. Do you know if Clevo/Horize are planning a 14" or so gaming notebook? So far the new M14x seems the only viable option in that size to suit my own needs.

Hi,
Unfortunately no they won't be doing a 14" model. Clevo are reluctant to make a 14" model and it is because the cost per unit is higher than a 15.6" model. The weight variance is only about 100grams and while I understand why you want it, they don't understand this. It is the truth of the matter.

15" is too big for what I want, and 11" is too small haha. Can't win. Oh well, will have to think about it. Thanks for the reply

Thank you very much for this. I've been looking for a little laptop which would be able to provide me with a bit of flexibility.
Primarily I'm going to be using the laptop to work with remote desktop connections, Word and such but when I'm given a bit of free time and am away from my PC, having the ability to play a bit of a game would be a great aside. I previously had a venerable and positively ancient ASUS 12" laptop. Can't remember the model number anymore but it had a 1.4GHz Centrino processor and upgraded 756MB of RAM in it. ![]() The little Samsung Q310m that I had to speedily purchase as replacement isn't really doing the job I need it to do. It takes too long to boot up and all the notebook software bloat that comes with the unit slows the boot-up and shut-down times. How is this little unit's general boot up times given that it's got the 7200RPM HDD and how much OEM software bloat is pre-installed into the machine?

I got absolutely zilch with my P150HM - it's Windows 7 and that's it, nothing else but drivers.

Hi,
Yes it is correct, there is zero bloatware on the Horize machines. Other than drivers you have a Clean Windows 7 installation.
