You could put a resistor inline with them to reduce the brightness. Put it on the positive wire.

How?

Putting in the top rx360 has reduced the amount of light might leave it at that

wire it up to red and yellow on the molex instead of yellow and black for 7v
or red and black for 5v
no liability accepted for blowing anything up though

I took the Black pin out and attached it on the red. it barely worked.
I tried the other black and it worked the same as it is by default.

These led's get quite warm, would it be a problem if I put something like masking tape over them?
That or I've been thinking covering the strip with a slightly opaque acrylic sheet.

yeah didnt think they would work undervolted
they are chip driven not voltage driven
a strip of sticky tape would do the trick and wouldnt hurt...probably..

tape works fine over them, just be aware that at some point the adhesive on the tape will lose its grip as they are warm yer.

Good to know about the voltage change not working - was going to get a fan controller and connect some to that to affect brightness and turn on and off.

Hope the tape works for you

Sorry...
Spoiler below, highlight to read:
When only the brightest will do, BitFenix TriBright™ LED Technology gives you the industry’s brightest LED strips. TriBright uses independent ICs to power each LED bulb for maximum brightness.

Yeah, I think you nailed...'bright'

Just the fact it is white light makes it that much more intense and coupled with acrylic and white components makes it even worse

With the Radiator installed it the top now it is has reduced the amount of reflection and has made it darker in the case and over the components.

Looking real good!

cut it down, less is more! those strips are made to be cut and still work, take a few inches at a time.
