Default Fibre internet at a remote place?

I have been property searching for a while now and I am looking for a rural property with decent internet - preferably ADSL, but it is very hard to find any.

I came across this property:

http://www.realestate.com.au/propert...ithgow-7299835

This property is in the Wolgan Valley which is at least 30km from town, yet it says it has fibre optic cable connection?

I'm just wondering.. is this possible to get fibre installed pretty much anywhere if you have enough money? Ie if money is not a concern (you are willing to pay in the thousands or tens of thousands?) Most properties I look at, have either no ADSL or are miles away from the nearest Telstra 3G tower etc and would have pretty bad internet overall - so if you had lots of money to spend can you get fibre? If so how would you go about this?

Or is fibre that far out in the sticks just not possible? And that auction ad is lying?

Call up someone who has fibre(Telstra, optus, uecomm, nextgen) and get a quote.

Don't be surprised if its a rather large number and that they will lock you in to a silly contract that has a costly per mb charge.

If you're willing to spend the $$, you can have fibre from anywhere to anywhere.

30+km of fibre would not come cheap though.

telstra were going to charge us (mining company) $500K for a 15KM run of fibre, through some mostly tough terrain, but there were too many engineers involved who did or didn't want it to go where telstra said they were going to put it so it got canned.

Given the location of the site it would be very unlikely that there is fibre there for consumer use to provide internet.

What they might mean is the site has got fibre around within the site, which while can be expensive is not outside the realm of possibilities.

Probably something that is best asked to the real estate agent.

As for any Consumer Fibre internet apart from the NBN and some of the Telstra greenfield sites there isn't much consumer fibre available. And paying to get it installed is prohibitively expensive if its not providing it to an entire neighborhood.

I work at a Carrier that has fibre in Lithgow, if you have the money a build is definitely possible. we're talking about 25k a kilometre here though.

Ok well that's a bit out of my price range

It is very possible that the install may have been cheapish for this property, as a major carrier haul may come close to the land. The house seems to have a lot of extra's though so it seems it was built/owned by someone quite wealthy.

If it says Fibre Optic cable connection, I would assume its for internet connectivity, and you'd simply need a quote from whoever owns it. We are talking thousands of dollars a month though just for 20/20mbit, most likely. And that would be on a 1-3 year contract.

I want to be able to do online gaming.

So satellite is out.

3G... well gaming on that is not that great... even at close distances to towers (I have tried where I am currently living). 4G is better I presume? But 4G is not exactly available at many places... espeically not many rural areas, and getting a 4G signal over hills ain't gunna happen from what I read... even with crazy good antennas...so not very practical if you are living in hilly areas or anywhere far from town.
