I should've saw this coming. Skyward Sword went from $99 to ~$50-60 instore shortly after I bought it, and it appears to have been hovering around that price since.
I want Games Wizards back but it might've suffered the same fate but just a change of market identity.I wonder how Game Traders are going...

that grinds my gears.... they have already taken the money for the GCs but then refuse to honour them
the posts by Job about GAME making staff push preorders on the weekend is pretty damning.

It sounds the same as what BORDERS did, not honouring GCs unless customers match the face value of it, effectively not making any principal use of the GC at all.

Seems somewhat more fair enough compared to what BORDERS tried to pull off.

Borders required you to match your gift card usage dollar-for-dollar (Ratio of 1:2). i.e. if you wanted to use a $15 gift card, you had to buy something worth $30 and pay $15 cash + $15 gift card. GAME want you to match your gift card usage at a ratio of 1:4. i.e. if you want to use a $15 gift card, you have to buy something worth $60 and pay $45 cash + $15 gift card. Them's the breaks of gift cards, though. |

If I had a $100 voucher, but was advised that I was required to spend $300 to use it, I would simply shoplift the worth of my voucher, and leave it on the floor. |

I'm in this situation and trying to decide what to do.. Given that it's a 1:4 spend ratio to use the credit I feel there's a good chance GAME will not make it out of administration. They're going to block the purchase of PSN cards as well ... no doubt looking to rake in as much 'cash' as possible as quickly as possible with items that have a profit margin. I'm tempted to buy a PS Vita just to use up the credit, but it's not something I particularly want to do. |
