For doing as they were told? They wouldn't have known. Some greedy shit somewhere else certainly would have, and for this, I don't see how it isn't a criminal act - you know you're going down, but you pimp out worthless wares that can never be redeemed anyway. How can that not be punishable.

Funnily enough I just asked one of the guys at Eastland about how they can possibly make money given that I traded in three old games, used my accumulated bonus membership credit points, and 'bought' Witcher 2 on Xbox for free. The dude replied that they were one of the lucky stores that made tons of money off of reselling games and weren't going anywhere in a hurry.

That was just over a week ago.

Also, I wonder if the chick that works there is single and likes fatbeards...

To work for? Sure. 'Cause she knows she can get away with anything.

In a relationship? Probably not...

That's what I'll miss about physical game stores: the Token Chick™, pretending she's a super-leet gamer because she plays Farmville, and the thirty-year-old neckbeard manager trying to flirt with her, despite the fourteen year age gap.

I've never stolen anything in my life, but I've been in that situation once before - I told them if they didn't give me the product I was entitled too, I was going to take it and leave my voucher on their desk.

They gave it to me instead

Was EzyDVD I think.

oh im sure that those at the head of GAME will have some serious civil and potentially criminal penalties applied to them once the liquidation (commences) and is completed. always enjoyable as a lawyer in this field to see the dodgy shit that managing officers and directors try to get up to to squeeze anything they can out of a dying company for themselves (and it happens regularly, on a much larger scale than anything GAME Australia might have done).

doesnt mean that those with $20, $30 or $50 game preorders or gift cards are ever going to see any substantive justice, though. just yet another argument against the utter retardation that are gift cards (pre-orders are a different matter).

GAME started allowing the sale of PSN card's again on the weekend.

I was able to convert my credit/preorders back into PSN cards ( after spending 4x the value )
Not ideal, but it's something I can use and was better than wasting money on overpriced games, accessories & second hand consoles.

Was an absolute disgrace.

We're in the Kitchen game - quite a few of our clients (at the time) were burnt badly by them.

did any of the directors spend any time in prison?

unfortunately, its an all too common occurrence - company in trouble, try to eake as much money out of as many corners as possible to keep company afloat, but it is all in vain and the directors just end up dragging more creditors into the mess (and is why insolvent trading is a civil and criminal offence).

Is it even legal to sell gift cards when a company is in administration?

Currently it's easy, yes, but if they lock in games on next gen consoles to digital only, no keys, then yea, you have no choice but to pay what they ask.

I suppose though that you could buy a US console and permantly run it through a ip spoof..... most people would have no idea what I just said though, even though we both know what I'm saying.
