Live.
Between the need to find food and water, the fact that there'll be 300-1000 deadly zombies, the fact that 99% of human players that see you will shoot you on site and even the weather will do it's best to weaken you... should keep you fairly busy. |

status: sexy. also: deleted my Arma2OA.cfg and the game seems to work now! must have been some combination of settings causing it to... not work. also it runs much more better.

hey guys, have heard a lot about this mod... And have decided i want in. :P
I have basic experiance of controls in ARMA 2, but lots of FPS experiance in general and would like to join a group of suvivors. I have mic and a decent internet connection, so comunication shouldnt be a problem. Though you may have to bear my n00bness at some points. Not looking to F*ck shit up, just survive and enjoy the experance. if anyone wants to take me on please add me on steam RMS_ST1NG3REdit: i am currently downloading operation arrowhead, so in the meantime getting back into arma 2 to get used to the controlls.

Another day of DayZ, another day of crazy night-time ops.
First up: night-time raid on the NW airfield. Pitch-black. This one was surprisingly successful, and we even picked up another dude who tagged along with us. Raided the barracks etc. Then we raided the barracks at the south end of the airfield, that's when things started to go downhill: a few of us were on pretty low health already, and after the south barracks that was just a disaster, Marksman X and I were on <4000 health. We limped to a few towns to find blood packs. No dice at the first, nor the second. At that point the server went down for about 20 mins —*Marksman X and I switched servers to make it back to Starry, which we both did with about ~3000 health —*sadly, I died on the way after running into a zombie with bingo ammo and blurry vision. First death of the night. (Marksman X met up with Pray at Starry and the Doc, and lived to fight another day.) Meanwhile, I had spawned in Cherno as was given the task of raiding the hospital for bloodpacks, which I did. Made my way back to Starry after a bit of walking (okay, a lot). I was coming upon Starry when the shooting started. Marksman, Pray, and the Doc had a nasty run-in with bandits when things went south for Pray and the Doc. No idea how Marksman survived, but I ended up meeting with him. A few mishaps with a lost Coyote backpack full of blood packs later, and Marksman and I were hunting down two more bandits at Starry. They managed to get away. I gutted a cow. Then we came across two guys shooting at things in Starry. I watched them from a distance with binocs, whilst Marksman got into place behind the guys —*one of the guys turns around, sees me with the binocs, and, without hesitating, proceeds to put two in me. Second death of the night. Marksman avenges me and downs one of the dudes. The second one (presumably) gets away. Marksman calls it a night here, I believe. (At this time, Pray and the Doc had made it just North of Elecktro.) I meet up with Pray and the Doc, and we begin our journey back to Starry. We find some enfields, and come to this small town about halfway between Starry and Elekctro. Start looting things, and all is good until I accidentally let off a shot with the Makarov. Cue the biggest zombie rush you've ever seen. Seriously, a never-ending wave of zombies. I plow through my 6 or so Makarov mags, Pray goes through his Winchester rounds, takes a few hits, and goes down unconscious. I've still got an Enfield, and start going through that —*by this time I've swear we've put down about 20-30 zombies total, and they just keep coming. Pray logs out. The Doc and I decide to make a run for it —*I do so with five zombies chasing after me, and no ammo. I decide to just disconnect, but the zombies get to me before I can hit the abort button. Third death of the night, and I've had enough for the night. |

please be careful with the shooting in town next time, I swear these smaller towns have more zed's than the major cities, or probably cause they respawn constantly which sucks. |

So hard to tell who to trust now. I was watching that guy that shot you (second death of the night) for a couple of minutes, and could of ended him at any time. He then turns around and engages you without hesitation. But then you come across people like Doc. Logs into Starry, shits going down, assists us with fending off the Horde, and then proceeds to give everyone medical assistance.

Starry's a nasty place man. I was creeping through there yesterday and saw three hoons rummaging through the belongings of a survivor. They then proceeded to climb to the top of a factory and alert every Z within range, seemingly for a bit of target practice.
With those guys distracted I crept into a barn looking for some rounds for my empty winny. Great success. Bad news is that one of the hoons comes in and spots me. He walks right up next to me but takes no action, Im guessing because his buddies werent with him. Should have put a bullet in his head there and then. I turn around and sprint, no crouch run... full sprint, Zs be damned. For 5 minutes im running through the forest and I can hear gunfire following closely. It's like fucking deliverance. Approaching a barn in between Starry and the next town, I sneak from hay bail to hay bail through the surrounding field. Next thing I hear is an enginge revving and look over to see the three hoons bearing down on me in a humvee. Splat. Being hit by the car apparently attracts Zs to you. In the blurred vision I can see the three hoons standing by watching as Zs tear me limb from limb, before one takes aim with his assault rifle and finishes me off. Starry's a nasty place man... |

A good point to scope Stary is on the NW hill, there is a group of bushes which provide good cover from all directions and you get the perfect lookout over the military camp. If you have a weapon with decent range, you can pretty much pop zombies/players without alerting others. Get your team mates to empty their backpacks near your feet and work their way into the camp, collect all good loot and move out as fast as possible. There are similar bushes on the NE side but players coming from the NW airfield tend to run over this hill (opposed to the aforementioned steeper hill to the NW of stary). It also doesn't have the height advantage as the other hill, but if you have a larger group - it's definitely worth keeping someone here to stop anyone sneaking over from directly north.

Nub question, Can this be run with just Operation Arrowhead, or do you need Combined OPs?

You need combined ops, but you can get ArmaII free version if you already have OA.
