Just played for about 90 mins. Talk about atmosphere!!

But yeah, somewhat at a loss as to what you can do at night. Cranked the brightness and gamma up and could just make out silhouettes of buildings etc.

Didnt have much luck finding stuff, just stumbling across random barns etc. didnt see any big towns. Probably a big thing as cant make out the zombies from the shadows.

Damn you all! I caved and purchased "Operation Arrowhead", "Private Military Company", and then threw in "Take On Helicopters" and the "Ghost Recon" pack for good measure.

I'll be on later this afternoon if any of you want to team up.

Good times last night, me and a mate were playing, found a guy and hanged with him on a roof for a while holding off zombies.

Then we just decided to kill him aswell.

It's a little worrying how quickly it seems the game is turning from a sandbox survival game to straight FPSPVP with some zombies :/

Too much internet sociopath tendancy running rampant. I would just prefer people play as a proper bandit (killing to steal, not killing to kill) or survivor because sociopaths are fortunately pretty bloody rare IRL lol.

LOL, classic.

I wiggled my way out of Cherno dodging zombies only to get shot by some lucky newly spawned sod just after I made it out. I was trying to smuggle a winchester from my dead mate body who I accidently shot so when he respawned he'll get it back. I literally had just made it past the ring of zombies around the city and got up, had a shot just miss me from behind, looked back and saw a bandit in the distance from the city, turned back to continue leaving to see this guy looking at, we had that awkward pause of looking at each other, and being the big softie I am I didn't shoot, and so he did instead.

Crazy stuff in that town, nearly all the zombies we're cleared out from the middle, there was a sniper somewhere popping shots at a couple of survivors running around tryin to work together, was rather awesomely tense with an empty city, the occasional rifle shot ringing out and the talk on chat from the few guys openly telling everyone where they were going in the city. From memory they got ambushed near the hospital.

That's partly because atm there is nothing to do apart from shooting other people for fun once you have all the best gear. I am ok with this heh.

Well, every other game around is built for that. I just hope this game doesnt ever become predominantly about killing other players for 'fun'. I kinda wonder Sociopath gameplay in DayZ can be corralled into being just as rare as real life. Gimme bandits that want my gear or some sort of personal gain, not just a 1 next to their name for the lulz

Any stats that are created people are going to want to best them, maybe it's not a good idea to give people kill count stats, just have the clothes change to bandit and what not.

Do you see peoples screen names when you mouse over them? I envision proning in the woods with a sniper rifle, seeing someone run through the field adjacent and telling them to drop all their gear and run away or face a quick death. Do they think I'm bluffing? Can they dodge me? Those sort of moments would be intense.

There's an install guide for all the various versions of the game, i think you can even have a hybrid steam/retail install?

PS. What time is sunset in the game?

making bandit's clothing bright pink should make people think twice about needless killing the other idea i thought might work well was to restrict 3rd person view to non-bandits...

Some sort of Zombie Karma system? Have the zombies prioritise bandits over regular survivors?

Would make people think a bit more about becoming a bandit, then.

God damn it I hate how the computer goes to sleep even though Steam is downloading files. Due to this, I still have to wait another 5 hours.
