Default Is My GPU Compatible With My Mobo??

Hello all, I bought a 2GB 7870 for my compuuter after haven been assured that it is compatible, only to have it not display jack all.

Is it a compatibility problem?
Speccy informs me I have:

FOXCONN Napa (Socket 775)
NVIDIA GeForce 7100 Chipset



...Any help is welcome...

Ok...

Brand New 650W Antec TruePower
32-bit SP2 Vista
4gb Samsung Single Channel DDR2 RAM


Not sure what is relevent that Speccy is telling me, but I think its an Phoenix Technology Branded GeForce 7100, Ver 5.27??

Display is an SamSung LS23A350H SyncMaster, 23"
Then just the basic keyboard and mouse that came with the HP computer...

Need anything else? Unsure of what is needed

May have to disable the onboard gpu in bios first?
