Default Model Trains 8x6. Lots of Pics!! Slow host :@

Hey guys

So i decided i need a new hobby after moving into a small town 100km from adelaide, with only 10,000 residents here. things got boring quite fast!

Off to the local hobby shop i went after a couple mates mentioned they had a small train set they were playing around with.

I Eventually came home with 2x train sets (Not DCC) and about $300 worth of extra track bits and peices.

Anyway here are some pics of my current situation, the inner track is a work in progress and changes every day so pay too much attention to it.

Just finished building the table for my trains.

Pile of track i bought with the train sets themselves.

Buildings based on the theme im doing, which is the mining/quarry industry.

Start of the layout, bits and peices have changed here and there.

Slight change since the above layout.

Decided to go with a cork underlay before putting ballast on.

More changes to the layout.

More changes!

The big mining factory isnt yet finished, threw it on anyway.

Even more changes again to the layout. it will most likely stay in this form but the inner track which goes around the quarry/mine will be finished.

Have not yet decided what im doing with the bridges i've made from styrofoam, if painted grey they will have the texture of cement, alternatively, i may well paper mache them into hills etc.

Today i decided to cut some MDF out for under the upper level track.

Need to redo the lower section, got abit wonky with the jigsaw :P

Well this is where im at right now, everyday im trying to get a couple hours of work in, Eventually i plan on going DCC.

The center of the board is going to be cut out, so i can design an authentic quarry which goes down into the actual base board.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Love to do a project like this. Reasonable amount of work even going to this stage. Will be keeping my ee on the thread to see how it progresses.

Its definately rewarding tho!
i've spent countless hours on this, designing, redesigning, pulling stuff appart and redesigning a single bend, im still not entirely happy with the layout but eh.

its not cheap either, i think i've spent more then $1000 on it in the last couple weeks, just getting to the point its at, which doesnt include a dcc set i want either :O

Duuuuuuude, use photobucket

You can upload to your account directly from web urls and you can upload numerous images in one hit.

You can also get a plugin for firefox where you can right-click an image and upload directly to your account.
