Unhappy how do you test a motherboard and cpu is working?

How do you tell if a motherboard is working as in is their some way of testing it's all good.
What do you need put on or in for it to boot up to the bios. For instance i thought all you needed was stick of memory a cpu and a video card.
Please correct me!
I have a k27 raid board with a Athlon 1000.
I doesn't even boot up.
Maybe the chip blew up?
Do these kinds of boards have a cpu temperature shut down? or its just if it gets to hot it's wrecked.
Please help
Thanks in advance

well best way to check is to exchange know working component see wats not working.

yup mobo have temp shutdowns but they only on if u select the option in the bios. plus it doesnt take long for u to fry a chip if there is no heat sink.

well if u have other component to swap and test try that other wise u might have to bring it back to where u bought it to get fixed

1\ check power supply & board's battrie
2\ check conections were you place ram/ vidio card even a small amount of dust caught between conictions can cause a problem but also try changeing slots used some boards can be tempermental
3\ If you've run that chip without a heatsink & fan you could be looking at a nice papper weight

but off topic answer is min to get bios bootup :- mother board, vido card [to see],cpu ,working power supply, moniter
