Default Ammonia

Where can I get some ammonia? not the cloudy ammonia 2% stuff at woolies, but something like 25% ammonia in water solution, or even pure ammonia?

I searched everywhere and couldn't find any info on this. I need this to demonstrate to a chemistry class formation of certain complex ions.

You're after ammonium, not ammonia.

Maybe try lab suppliers, like Orica, BASF, etc, but I'm not sure if they supply small quantities as well.

Definitely need ammonia NH3 and not the ion ammonium as ammonium salts

I need small quantities though... not sure if Orica will serve to the public

its a DG for transport and storage, any restrictions in place on purchasing will be by state so depends where you are.

Also Orica will have a minimum order quantity/value

Where are you teaching and what do you want to make? Any place that education providers buy chemicals from will stock it; 15% works just fine for tetraamminecopper(II).

Wouldn't this work:

Buy cloudy stuff.
Heat to boil off ammonia gas.
Bubble gas through chilled water.

Then I have to wonder what sort of "chemistry class" you want the ammonium for.

Surely you could contact a university chemistry department and they would be able to help / point you in the right direction?

or if teaching at a school... wouldn't they have a directory of preferred suppliers?

Alright I bought some 25% ammonia solution (among other things from a chem supplier of schools). Excellent.

Wait? You have a chemistry class, but no glassware? Is this the sort of "Chemistry Class" one would find in someone shed?

Did they also sell you some red phosphorus?
