Default Dirt Showdown: multiplatform racer/demo derby by Codemasters

Couldn't find a thread for it.

Dirt Showdown Website

Whilst waiting for D3 to come back, I grabbed this, hooked up a xbox controller and took it for a thrash.

Pretty enjoyable, and has youtube and steam integration for challenges with friends, multiplayer etc. Anyone else playing it?

Has Dirt finally dropped all pretences of being a rallying game?

sure has, reviews are scathing.

having said that it's like a sub game, so non-cannon which is why it doesn't have a number.

I played the demo, was slightly miffed by the lack of a manual gearbox but its still pretty fun.

Not a full price buy but i'll happily buy this down the track.

I'm guessing it's the DiRT equivalent of Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Really really shit game haha. Miss the original dirt, more arcade-y every instalment. Can't even assign gear up/down in this one.

Judging by that launch trailer, this looks like it should have just been a gameplay mode on DiRT 3, not a standalone game. *sigh* Guess there's no money in that though...

The very original Colin McRae Rally's (specifically, CMR2) are the best.

DiRT was an abomination, albeit a fun one.

I've been playing this on pc for the last two days and loving it. Considering you can buy it for less than $40, I think it's a decent title.
Yes it's supposed to be an "spin-off" from the main DiRT franchise. Clearly NOT trying to be a rally simulator. It's a more like flatout or even carmageddon. Cars have a health bar and you can wreck other vehicles.

I really loved Destruction Derby in the early days, then the second instalment, probably the only 'car' games I've really liked (oh, add Twisted Metal to that list).

Going to give it a shot and see if it brings back some memories!

my gf and I have been playing splitscreen multiplayer on the plasma using 360 controllers as if it was on console. Runs awesome, 1920x1080 rez and fun. I can't complain. It's as shallow as a rain puddle, but I didn't expect much depth anyway. She loves it, and my controllers get some mileage.

Worth the $40 imo.

Why is it, Dirt used to be good when McRae was still around
