Default iPad & pdf files

I'm thinking of buying an iPad so that I can read several books/ reports/ out of copyright old books that I have on my PC in pdf form.

Can iPads read pdf? How would I get those files into an iPad? email?

Thanks

Yes. You can put them in to iBooks either by grabbing them from a URL and saving them that way, or upload through iTunes.

So it's basically no worries? Do I need to install any apps or hack into NASA or anything?

why not just use dropbox or something like that then they should just sync across by themselves.

Also doesn't iPad have Adobe Reader? I've found it's the best pdf reader on Android and I've tried a few.

*edit*

I searched and it is

If you want to you could also use the Kindle app, or a whole pile of other readers. So yes, there are many ways of reading PDF's on the iPad.

Getting them on the device depends on the App, but email is easy and works for everything. Some apps just also come with a desktop sync client as well, if you prefer that to email / URL / separate app.

If you are reading lots of documents, and need to be able to mark them up (highlight etc) then Goodreader is the pick of the bunch for iOS apps.
