My copy of Truxton arrived the other day box + game but sadly no manual.

It still plays great

Edit - Also, I bought Dodonpachi resurrection for Xbox. I gotta say, it not a very nice game. I wish they'd just do a straight Arcade port of the original donpachi/dodonpachi.

this thread is one of the main reasons the dreamcast and saturn get regular use :P

some of my all time favorites are (were) in the arcade

1942
raiden 1 (did not like 2)
strikers 1945 (2 was very good as well)
soukyu gurentai - saturn (terra driver)
in fact there is a heap on the saturn/dreamcast (most mentioned already)

but i also like the horizontal scrolling too
ie
un squadron - snes
salamander - saturn
r-type - on various but snes is a favourite

another good game that i think has not gotten a mention is super probotector for the snes (contra 3 on ntsc/if you want to find it on emulator);
not sure if it is a shmup but still a classic

Here's a few I used to play, going all the way back to primary school for at least 2 of them:

Clean Asia, a Cactus game (if you know him, then you know what I mean ) with 2 very different ships and 3 very different stages.

Invasion Of The Mutant Space Bats Of Doom, still one of my favourite video game titles, and one I loved to play in primary school

Tumiki Fighters, has an interesting mechanic involving breaking off parts of enemy ships and attaching them to your own.

Go Beryllium, a rhythm-based atomic shmup

There was one other shmup I used to play in primary school, I remember having fantastic fun with it but can't for the life of me remember the name it was a tate shmup, with large bosses, called... Commander something, or Captain something... I remember a huge red crescent-shaped boss that took up most of the top half of the screen. It was a PC game. Halp?

Where do you guys buy your sticks from? Trying to source a local supplier of Seimitsu LS-58 but not having luck. Some carry the 32 but not much else.

Are there any international stores with decent shipping rates?

A couple of Toaplan titles in there I see. Whilst they're not around today, they still rate in my top 10 favourite dev companies ever.

Check out some of their other awesome titles:

Of note, many of the Toaplan staff went on to form two other awesome companies: Cave and Eighting/8ing/Raizing (yes, that one company has three names).

Thanks Elvis. Looks like a decent store. They don't seem to have the LS-58 I'm after. So far only focusattack have them along with some ebay sellers.

Any other HK etc stores that are worth a look and a bookmark?

Apart from being absolutely obsessed with Invasion Of The Mutant Space Bats Of Doom, Raiden, Tyrian and Raptor, there was another game that occupied a bit of my time... and I LOVED the game music!!! (the amiga one sounds a buttload better too)

XENON 2
