Traveling Geelong to Sydney via coast

Basically I'm traveling from Geelong to Sydney via the Coast taking the ferry over from Queenscliff to Sorrento.

Just wondering if anyone has done this drive and what interesting sites I should make sure I see along the way. Doing it over 5 days so plenty of time.

Hey mate!
I don't understand why you would take the Ferry across to Sorrento? You will end up back-tracking up through Frankston to get onto the Princes freeway.
A few mates and I did the trip up to Byron for Toolies - we went up through the centre on the way there and we came back down the coast -
As far as I can remember it was a good trip! But we did spend a fair bit of time in Nimbin (a day turned into a week) so a few things from that trip I can not remember clearly.
I think 5 days will be more than enough, unless you are heading up further than Sydney!
What do you have planned so far?

Hey

We are taking the ferry mainly so we can check out Sorrento and surrounds a little. Don't really feel like driving via Melbourne. (but may end up depending on ferry pricing)

So far I have the following planned.

First day drive to Lakes Entrance 1 night.
2nd day drive to Merimbulla 2 nights.
4th day drive to Batemans Bay 1 night.
5th day drive to Gerringong 1 night.
6th day drive to Sydney 2 nights.

Than flying to Cairns for a week.

Any interesting sights I shouldn't miss along the way?
