Agreed! I went to the Perth one a couple of years ago and again on Saturday. The venue and number of exhibitors looked about the same. But i swear there were 4 times as many attenders this year! They really need a bigger venue. It was so packed that you could barely move, let alone take your time to look at stuff.

On a positive note, the crowd was in a good mood and 50% of them were in costume.

Very nice shots OP!

I went to the Perth one last weekend... first time going to supanova + first time photographing people + lots of people + no flash = bad photos

Thanks guys!

Wish I could see the Supanova in Perth for myself. I keep getting the impression its better than the one in Sydney.

Won't be going to the upcoming SMASH but will be attending the similar cons in Singapore due to my extended stay. Looking forward to seeing pics of SMASH though since I'll be missing it.

Captain Jack Sparrow was the highlight for me. He wsa such a good actor on the day. He even nailed the camp walk, and everything

The Mass Effect couple were well dressed too.

Oh and this little 4' tall kid in Predator getup. Will have to check my photos to see if I have any good ones.

It was definitely busier this year compared to the last few years. It has been getting busier each year and this time it was quite packed as you experienced. I'm thinking next year it's time to move venues. Parking was definitely easier last year as well. I found a spot quite easily whereas this year I was driving around for ages... I'm thinking the Exhibition center would be a decent place. WaiCon is held there and I'm pretty sure they don't even use half of the place.

I don't know if I'd say it's better? I'm pretty sure the turnout is smaller in comparison and I think Sydney has some of the better high quality cosplays. Perth had some decent ones and pretty funny ones this year though. We have a couple Halo dudes that are probably equal to that Iron Man. Oh and there was a smokin' Poison Ivy too! Wonder if dexx saw??

Yeah, he had that full trippy walk going on which just made it even better. I love it when people get into character as well. Just makes its more memorable and entertaining. Definitely one of the highlights of the day for me as well.

Was that the female Shepard walking around or was there another?

Seems always to be shoulder to shoulder in a early morning due to the bottlenecked entrance but once that dies down everything seems to be the same as every year for me.

I don't drive but I usually see a mountain of people at Redfern since I've always taken the train down to Supanova. Its amusing to see people's confused facial expression as they oblivious to what is going on.

Aside from the strange cosplay in Perth saw a few high quality ones in which I wouldn't mind trying to pull aside for a few decent shots. I guess that what drives to actually attend Supanova in Perth for once.

There was a male and female combo in full N7 armour. I did see one girl in armour with EL-wire lighting up the back, it might have been the one you saw.

If anyone is planning to attend SMASH! and wants to meet up I'll be carrying around a grey Domke F-2 and wearing a "I AM Nikon" lanyard.
