Default Help Please 3 x 27" Screens !!

G'Day Crew,

Please forgive me for yet another screen question.

I want to get into a triple/multi monitor setup. My current specs are:

Intel 2600K @ 4.1Ghz
16Gb DDR3
256Gb SSD
Nvidia GTX 690
Samsung S27a950 120Hz 27" monitor.

As per my other reply in another thread, I was thinking of getting:

2 x Samsung 27" S27a950 or

3 x Asus/Benq 23"

Mainly play BF3 and FSX etc.

Having the Nvidia card have not ruled out 3D gaming with an Asus/BenQ monitor(s).

Would the 690 be able to run 3 x Samsung 27"??? on BF3 at high/ultra?

Please help me to decide.

Cheers

If you already have a S27A950 I'd go for two more, it will be way more impressive than 3 23" screens. Only reason why I would downgrade to 3 23"s if I didn't like the S27A950 or didn't have enough desk space.
A GTX690 will be powerful enough to run the three screens in BF3.

D W Y and AudioFX, thank you for your replies!

I do like the Samsung monitor, it's 3D is not that good and will not work with the Nvidia card (I Think). I dont really use the 3D but I am concerned that the Nvidia Surround will only work with the Asus and BenQ and not the Sammy's.

I thought about 2 x 23" Sammy's to match but they are obviously not the same size, sigh.

3 x S27a950 give me triple 120Hz gaming, but no 3D

3 x Asus 23" give me triple 120Hz gaming and 3D but are smaller

Who would have thought spending $$$ could be so difficult.

Well it seems my answer is a given, the Samsung S27a950 is very hard to come by. Not many around if at all

I know that there has been some reported issues. Although I have not had any with mine.

Options:

Asus VG236H x 3 or wait

Benq XT2420TX x 3 or REALLY stretch my budget and get

Asus VG278H x 3

Will give the S27a950 to my 13 yo son

Your thoughts??

Cheers Rob

There's still some stores that have stock, or pre-orders

Is the SA27A950D the same as the SA27A950?

Hey - I had 3D vision surround set up with 3X Asus VG236H - and in all honesty I didn't use the 3D often at all, although I loved the surround aspect of it.
From my understanding you can use the samsung 3D, but it turns a 2D image into 3D, where as games that are Nvidia 3D ready are made for Nvidia 3D.

Also there is the space/power consumption/cable management issues

vs. new setup - dell 30" with a dell 20"

G'Day Crew,

Thank you for your replies and time! I ended up buying 3 x Asus VG236H. Got them for $349 each.

Nice monitors, very happy with the purchase. Got them setup like Kommandant. Awaiting a triple monitor stand and longer DVI-D cables today.

The 3D is impressive, gives me motion sickness after prolonged use.

Running BF3 and FSX in Ultra and 3D sees not issues with FPS etc. The GTX 690 is a beast.

What about image burning? the outer monitors have the desktop picture but only get "used" as such during gaming. Will the image burn in??

Cheers

Today's LCDs don't really suffer from burnin.. maybe if you had the same image on it for the next 10 years straight, it might become a problem..
