Default Sony xperia play stuck in boot loop?

Hi all

My neice has a sony xperia play that last night while she was watching a movie clip from google, the screen went black.

Now it powers on but then goes to the telstra screen and sits there

Is there any way to fix this issue? As in will a software update fix it?

thanks

if all else fails, download update_service_setup-2.11.4.11

it will give you the option to reflash your hone with the latest OS, which in my case, saved my phone, I really through it was fubar, woudln't boot beyond the sony ericsson text screen.

again, as a last option, cause if a reflash goes wrong, the phone is toast.

good luck

I just checked with niece and the phone is only coming up with Sony logo and then the Telstra logo. She is with Optus and phone wa working fine before it went black. Last time she turned it on there was no sim card in. Could this have been caused by a firmware update that has somehow locked the phone to Telstra again?

it's possible, but she would have had to select the update manually, it's not automatic, but, it sounds like it's the same thing that happened to mine, I too did the firmware update and then it went dark about an hour later, so yes, I would suggest doing the update through the link I posted above.

and since then, I've had no problems, just make SURE and double sure that you select the correct phone when you do the update, the link above gives you a selection of many phones, (why the hell they couldn't put a signifier in the phone so you couldn't do the incorrect one is beyond me, it would have been simple and save a lot of possible stuff ups.)

but anyway, be careful, double or even triple check your steps (like having the phone charged when you do the update via usb cable and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!) and good luck.

Thanks for your help.

She has a couple of messages she needs to keep. I have told her that she will probably lose them

Is there anyway to keep them?

thanks

well, you can always take the sim out and put it into another phone and check what data is on it, if you're lucky you might be able to recover them (usually from the same kind of phone because of where/how the data is stored)

mind you, all the data on my sim card remained, as did the data on my sd card, so it may be all fine and lose nothing.

it'd try and find someone with the same phone first and check the sim card before anything else though.

this is where it pays not to fully trust your phone (much like any tech) and keep backups of important stuff elsewhere.

you could also try at one of the phone kiosks in shopping centres, can't hut to ask if they can help.
