Also I'm fairly sure that brick and mortar stores pay upfront for those games so...they already have the money right?

I could do that, but I don't want to unnecessarily hurt the innocent non-game playing store owners and workers. No, my self-sacrifice should be more than sufficient a gesture I think.

Perhaps independent stores did that, but I imagine most big chains would sell via consignment / publishers offer deals to buy back unsold.

well, no sale today... I suspect it's either Valve trolling us by delaying it past when it's expected, or they have a real issue with threes (this would be their third summer sale).

I'm inclined to think they're trolling us, if you've noticed for the last week they've only had 1 weekend and midweek deal instead of the regular 2... I've noticed they do this before they do big publisher week long or weekend deals... I'd be shocked if they're not reducing the amount of specials in preperation for the big sale.

Just because they're a day behind us doesn't mean the sale shouldn't have already started. Steam specials go up on their thursday, our Friday. They've got their weekend deal up already, Dawn of War games.

But if it does start June 30 we wont see it until the 1st. Just like free weekends run over into Monday for us.

I didn't even realise this thread said June 30th, I assumed since last year it started on a Friday AEST (and most sales start friday AEST) it would start on a Friday this year... I think Chris forgot to adjust for the leap year in his assumption.

That's assuming it happens tomorrow since they've put up a weekend deal... Which like I said, that would probably mean Valve is trolling us.

edit: As people are pointing out on Reddit, the last two sales were started on the last Thursday in June, which is the last friday for us. This is the last Friday, so again, either Valve are holding back the sale, or they're trolling everyone and will unleash it tomorrow
