Default Fps drops with Sapphire HD 7870 in BF3

I've had my computer up and running for about 3 weeks now, and not had a single problem with it. However today whilst playing battlefield 3 I started getting bad fps drops for 1-2 seconds at a time. I play at 1680x1050 and on the ultra pre-set. I usually get a solid 50+ fps all the time, which I still get, except for the drops which go down to ~5-15fps. I tried changing settings to the low pre-set, however it just made the drops less frequent.

I have restarted computer, And in catalyst It says I'm running latest software, however I'm not sure if that is the driver or not...

Any thoughts and suggestions or other troubleshooting tips would be appreciated
-Adrian

EDIT: also its the non-overclocked card, still at stock clocks; always has been.

There's currently an issue with BF3, from what I've been reading it's to do with Punkbuster. I'm getting the same thing, usually on a constant 60FPS (2x6970 and 2500k @ 4.6ghz)

Apparently they're working on it, obviously there's no ETA....

Is it all Servers or just some ? ? Single and multi player ? ? Some servers are having issues atm also. Big 3FL server ? Iv had massive issues with my AMD cards previously also, but have it pretty good now with new cards until the next stupid update comes along.

Bf3 is buggy as all @#$%^ Major fail from Origin and Dice, forums are full of issues and problems of all kinds.. They should have left it like the previous versions but thats another story. I don't expect it to run properly ever..

BUT Yes, there is a msg on the board about the LAG issues so its not you most likely!

I'm pretty sure it's on Dice/EA end. Today I've been getting bad spikes in BF3 as well.
