Default RAM for ProLiant N40L

Hey guys,

First post...signed up yesterday to ask about some BSOD problems I'm having with my N40L set up as a HTPC.

Since then I've narrowed the issue down to having incompatible RAM in there after I blindly swapped what came with the microserver for 4GB of generic G-Skill RAM.

So I've learned i need to go through the manufacturer websites to narrow down what part of type of RAM I need. I've looked at Kingston and Corsair.

Problem is they are both very specific parts and I can't readily find the part somewhere I can walk to in the CBD today.

Surely there MUST be some other type of ECC server RAM I can put in this box as I know from other threads in other forums people are whacking all sorts of stuff in this thing, can anyone help me from, for example, this page?

http://www.skycomp.com.au/category/S...er-Memory.aspx

Price (within reason) not a factor, I just want my effing box to stop BSODing every time I'm halfway into a movie. Preferably by this afternoon.

Okay, so I can own up to being a complete newb. I have done heaps of Google but I just found the N40L Wiki in the owners thread. Have found the answer to my question there.

In case anybody with similar issue searches up this thread:

Go to the Microserver Owners thread
http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...d.php?t=958208

Click on the link to the google spreadsheet
User/Hardware details list! (spreadsheet)

Copy and paste some model numbers of ram into Staticice
http://www.staticice.com.au/

or watch the for sale section

Profit.

Thanks for your reply, Stanza, and all the work and info you've put into the FAQs and those threads. I've just stumbled upon a wealth of information that should meet all my needs and save me from getting any more errant advice.
