Default ssd help.

Hey guys,
Just installed windows 7 on this ocz ssd 120gb agility 2 drive and did a test with the AS SSD Benchmark program and had terrible results.. wondering if anyone has any idea on what im doing wrong?
scores were 99, 30, 185. its connected to sata one.
Someone mentioned marvel sata is bad or something? However i think that is all this motherboard has?

my old sata drive is that had windows on it is connected to sata2
i also enabled the thing i was meant to in bios. cant remember what it was called something to do with sata controllers.

cheers

I had speed issues with the same SSD on my x58a mobo wasn't much faster, need native controller for proper SSD speeds.

Run ATTO benchmark and post screenshot it is the benchmark (or similiar) the manufacturers use to advertise speeds, it uses compressed data.

Also ensure you have the latest intel or marvel sata drivers installed. But on your board you won't see the advertised speeds.

I assume you have drive running on AHCI mode.

Looks how mine did on x58a board, prob best to post on ocz forums they helped me a lot, ended up being mobo not up to it.

Maybe time for an upgrade? Even at its current speed as a windows drive it will still run much better then mechanical drive, you won't see a difference in anything but benchmarks even if it was running at advertised speeds.

Yes, begging for issues if you don't. i5-2500k are great.

get a SATA3 card and it should fix your problem.

Your mobo is getting on now. not designed for ssd hdds.

if you get a new mobo then its very likely that you will have to reinstall windows or at least do a repair install. your existing os will try to load drivers for an older amd chipset and will bsod as soon as it trys to boot.

Honestly, it isn't worth the screwing around. These days re-installing an OS is so easy. I don't know why you'd bother.

Especially with cloning software.

like the others have said. Going from AMD to Intel will be a pain from a drivers perspective.

I bought a SSD from here just last week and I cloned my HDD across using Acronis to the SSD and immediately started on tips and tricks to optimizing the SSD like disabling system restore and pagefile etc. so it is possible but from what I have heard, Windows 7 optimizes during install so there may be one or two things that window 7 does that I haven't...

Hope this help

P.S when tax comes through I will be buying a new CPU and mobo and I will be reinstalling windows

Going by your screenshot of ATTO your drive is performing to spec mate.

120GB Max Performance
Read: Up to 230 MB/s
Write: Up to 135 MB/s

Its only a sata 2 ssd so a sata 3 card is of no benefit to you really unless you extra sata ports in which case a sata 2 card would do as well.

As for AS SSD benchmark if you repeatedly bench your drive your going to hurt performance you'll need to give it some idle time to recover.
Results also will not be comparable to ATTO as ATTO is known to give better looking results one of the reasons manufacturers use it to give you performance figures.
Enjoy the upgrade
