Default Purchase and Initial setup

Ok, so im about to buy myself a new computer, this willbe the first computer i have built and setup myself as i have always owned crappy lappys. I have a few questions, but quickly, is my build alright? I am at max budget.
i5 3570k
Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H
Corsair 8GB 1600 C8
Vertex 3 120GB
Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm
GTX670 evga FTW
Hyper TX Evo
Corsair HX750
Cooloermaster 912 Advanced
TP-Link 300Mbs PCI wireless adapter
BenQ 27inch GL2750HM
+ Windows and DVD writer
Comes to $2053 from pccasegear.com

The only thing i dont have is a keyboard, and cant decide between the logitech g510 or the razor blackwidow mechanical. I like the lcd and backlights on the logitech, and i like the mechanical razor. Both are $105. God damn choices.

It will be used for gaming, watching movies, little bits of video editing, and procrastinating about studying. And might be overclocked slightly, just for the fun of it.

But the main thing i am concerned about it the setup of the computer, so i build it, then install windows and setup wireless, then what next? Do i need to install drivers for everything? Or install all the crap they give you? And should i stress test it with something like prime95 before i start installing games?
I know this is alot to ask and im sure i have forgotten stuff, but any advice given would be much appreciated.
Thankyou.

Yep, put in the CD's that they give you and run the setup which should install all the drivers for the Motherboard, then do the same for the graphics card. Or, if you are confident you can go directly to the manufactures website and download the latest drivers, BIOS, etc...

As for the rig itself, looks preety damn good and should be preety fast. Should handle all games with no problems, same with movies. Just make sure when you're installing your games, programs, etc you divert them to your 1tb drive so you don't use all you 120gb on the first day!

Have fun and enjoy!
Derek

Thanks, yeah im confident to do that with graphics, but have never updated a bios before, so i will leave that to the supplied disk. Also, how do i control fan speeds? Would that all be done in the software supplied with the motherboard? By fans i mean case fans, and cpu cooler fans. I will let the gpu do what it needs to do without me lol..... for now anyway, till i get a bit more experience. There is very minimal im planning on installing the the ssd, basically just windows, office, bf3, and crysis 2. If i have the room Civ5 aswell.
BTW i have decided on the CM Quickfire pro mech keyboard.

The driver CD's won't update a BIOS, that's a task that usually requires booting up off a USB or floppy (yes, they still exist ) and installing it that way. As for fans, check out SpeedFan as it allows you to control fan speeds and tells you the crucial temps of some systems in your computer.

Go the mechanical keyboard if the clicking sound doesn't bother you, otherwise you can get a slient blackwidow but you have to order from their website i think. If you want the led lights on the blackwidow go the ultimate with lighting.

Thanks josh, i managed to have a go at the coolermaster mech today and really like it so will be getting it. It also has partial backlighting which is all i need really.
When you guys say install the mobo drivers first, do you mean literally first or install windows then mono drivers? Just to clarify...
Derek, is that what flaming the mobo is? I spose i should update it aswell. So basically my understanding of this windows, then mobo drivers, then update/flash bios, then everything else? I will still have a comp while im doing this so downloading drivers from manufacturers websites and using usb stick shouldn't be a drama, if it needs to be done that way.

You can do it this way, some mobo manufacturers have a windows program that will update the bios. It is more a newer thing.

I prefer bios, windows, mobo drivers. I guess more oldschool way of doing it and what I'm used to.

All has been ordered, with a few minor changes. Now just have to wait for it to turn up, then read the manuals thoroughly. Then will post back when im confused as hell about updating the bios. Drivers im not to concerned about as they seem simple enough and i have updated drivers of various things before, but never updated a bios. Thanks for your help guys!

I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but you don't HAVE to update the BIOS unless there's a reason (you are having issues, or you've got a really new cpu that they've just added support for, or something). You could install and see how you go before worrying about that.

Swap the SSD for a Crucial M4, other than that build seems pretty good

Broccoli - No flaming but I always recommend flashing to the latest BIOS, it can fix bugs which you as the end user aren't even aware of. Flashing BIOS ROM's isn't as risky as it used to be

Ninja edit: I see you have already ordered

Would the mobo manual come with instructions on how to flash the bios? If not what would be the best way to do it?
It has all been ordered, and i was at max budget, so it doesnt really matter now, but from what i can see the ocz has a faster write speed, and double the iops. Why would the crucial be better?
Not trying to be rude and question your knowledge, just trying to learn.
