Default Computer randomly locks up

Hi guys,

Got my file server here. been working fine for the past year until the weekend. Works fine, but approx 1 hour in it will lock up. Specs are:

Gigabyte Z68-D2S-B3
Intel i7 2600, stock with stock cooler
8gb corsair ram (2x4gb)
Triple redundant psu in the rack mount chassis
2x Crucial m4 60gb in raid1 for boot
8x Hitachi 3tb drives
IBM M1015 flashed to IT mode
Intel dual gigabit nic
Windows 7 Pro

Have tried swapping the ram out (put 2x2gb of Corsair I had spare). CPU temps were also a little high, so I reseated the hsf and put some new paste. Temps dropped, idle around 38c. Tried updating all drivers as well, to no avail

I'm thinking somethings up with the board. anyone got ideas?

After about 5200 hours power on time, Crucial M4 SSDs can cause that issue. Update their firmware.

Stock cooler... have a good hard look at the plastic mounting clips. They were infamous for breaking causing the cooler to sit crooked. Awful design.

I reseated it, pressure on the CPU is firm and even, and all the clips are intact.

oh yeh good point! I'll give that a shot tomorrow. 5200 hours is around 216 days, which puts it somewhere in the first week of December - exactly when I installed the server. Sounds like its on the money

edit:

Crucial quickly released a firmware update for the 5200 hour bug recently found on the popular m4 SSD. This bug would cause systems that reached a total of 5184 hours on their m4 SSD to become unstable. Once restarted systems would be stable until another hour had passed.
which is exactly the symptoms I'm seeing! I'd totally forgotten about all the initial issues with the m4...
