Default M16 .. Pillars of Creation.

M16 is the eagle nebula and is a huge gas cloud about 6.5K light years away where new stars are born in those huge gas fingers.
This image is a shot of non visible light, capturing ionised light generated from the Sulphur, Hydrogen and Oxygen gasses in the cloud.
It's displayed in what's called the hubble pallet and that means you map light frequency to a colour. So S2:Ha:O3 equals R:G:B.

I forgot, shot from the backyard in Brisbane, about 15hours total exposure.

That's pretty awesome, what kind of setup do you have to capture a shot like that?

It's a pretty photogenic bit of sky.

This was shot with an 8" RC scope. It sort of looks like this pic I found on line.
I'm using a mono camera and filter wheel, not a canon.
