Default Intel heatsink clip issue

Has anyone else done some Intel (Gen3 Ivy Bridge) stock heatsinks? I'm finding most of them one or two of the clips just refuse to lock down. I get them 3/4 of the way and a little click but its clear the black locking pin isn't locked under the white tab.

The other issue is then I can't pull the thing off! I twist the top 90 degrees with a flathead as normal, but its just stuck... Had several like this now only just started with the gen3's.

Yeah we've experienced the same thing here at work with the ocassional one having issues getting the clip to lock in. Hardly ever use to be an issue before. I find if you fiddle around with the clip (twisting it etc) while it's still in your hands that it sometimes loosens it up enough that it's not an issue anymore.

Probably just a change in the manufacturing process of these clips that just isn't 100% right. A little annoying.

Extremely annoying... I managed to get the thing back up use all my strength and pliers, because the stupid Intel mobo was Gen3 ready but without a Gen3 BIOS so had to put an i3 on it to update then go through the awesome process of putting the hard to use Gen3 back on. My fingers are red raw now...

I also ran into issues and used the old cooler from an i5 2400 for my new i7 3770.

I just avoid them altogether. Managed to snap parts off of two socket 775 coolers because I wasn't doing it properly. And I don't want to read the instructions. They're too flimsy anyway.

The only Ivy Bridge stock hsf that I have had to install went in pretty easily, i pushed in two diagonally opposite pins then the other two. Haven't tried removing it yet, though I will be in the near future.

I find it easier to attach and remove the stock hsf while the motherboard is not mounted in the case.
