Default i5 3570 weird core temps

Just installed the 3570 and noticed that the core temps are all over the place. To be more specific, at idle, core 1 is about 32 degrees , core 2 hovers around 2-10 degrees, cores 3 and 4 are around the 20-25 degrees.

Worried that core 2 has a problem, but after doing a google search found that perhaps this is not a problem and that the temp sensor is unreliable ?

Is this an Ivy problem , recently updated my bios to P2.2 to accept this cpu.

Try another temp reading program. Speedfan gave me crap readings, RealTemp worked a treat.
Unless you have some wicked cooling, your cores CANNOT be below ambient, its just not possible.
Also have you read these threads?

And page 12 of this thread, and check page 13 tomorrow night after i have done what mrbean_phillip recommended i do for my cpu.

Cheers mate, i'll try the intel burn test. I'm using core temp desktop gadget and yes, core #2 did drop to 0 degrees once...

How did the burn test go?

I am getting weird results too - core 0/2 at 27 ish and the others at 10-14 degrees?

D/L Real Temp

Open Real Temp Gt - have prime95 on your pc
Do sensor test, navigate to prime95

Runs for @12 min , then you'll get a better idea of the temps overall.

Even my 3570k, idle temps still vary a bit.

This is me too.. Suspected bad mount, remounted, same result.

Under load at least 30 times over a 2 week period for various times, core 2 is only 1-2 degrees higher than the rest, idling its 10+degrees difference.

Strange huh?

Intel burn test turned out fine, saying all my cores were ok. But core #2 still only hovers around the 10 degree mark at idle and was 10 degrees cooler during the burn test.
