"Lenses mounted on the adapter are fully supported; autofocus, exposure metering, and stabilization work as per normal."

Engadget hands-on:

"Speaking of focusing, our experience was surprisingly sluggish, even with the 22mm and 18-55mm kit lenses. Using full-size EF optics, such as the 400mm f/2.8 L, was almost painful, with the camera struggling to adjust when shooting in a dimly lit room".

Like image quality, which we weren't permitted to review on a computer, Canon says that the camera's performance is far from final, and given the October ship target, it's reasonable to expect significant improvements before the EOS M makes its way to consumers

Sign me up if it doesn't suck. I've been waiting for something like this for a while.

Either that, or the OM-D with the 17.5mm f/0.95...

Yup they did. But I can't think of a single instance where there's been a dramatic change between pre-release and production firmwares.

In general there is not that much diff for low ISO image quality, but the amount of noise reduction applied at higher ISO (3200 and over) can change quite a bit for Canon. This then has a roll on effect with dynamic range as well. In general there should not be much change, but in some cases when they have high ISO banding issues, there can be quite a bit of change.

I gather the concern is more about the autofocus, the image quality would be the same as the 650D i'd guess, depending on the processor chip etc.

FranchiseJuan was explaining the changes that can occur between pre-release firmware and release firmware. He probably knows better than anyone here considering where he used to work

I have never seen an example of a production Canon dSLR camera with decent contrast detect AF. The M is listed as also having phase detect AF, which gives me hope, but really I think the AF on this camera will be at best on par with an EP1, which is to say the worst in it's market segment.

As posted earlier, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPyhM2x9gT8 @ 2:10, looks pretty terrible.

Also, no chance to fit FF with EF-M mount Affordable FF in a mirrorless body, now that would have been something....
