mine: got mountain dew all over a brand new BT mediacentre KB. completely killed it.
some guys: At one of our hosted LANs (back in the day) we had a rule, "you steal anything or get caught cheating, we throw your PC out the door" Had it printed in huge black text on display where you registered attendance, as well on the sign in sheet. somebody got caught pinching the ram out of someones pc. naturally we picked up his pc.. and pegged it full force out the front door. (followed by his CRT). suffice to say. that was the only time somebody tried it and we never had a single case of cheating.

A long time ago, when I was about 12, I tried to sabotage my old shitty computer so my parents would buy me a new one. It was an old Gigabyte mobo with an AMD CPU (can't remember the models), with a Radeon 9550. I pulled off about 5 caps from the mobo and scratched off a few PCB traces from both the mobo and the graphics card.... and the fucker kept working!
For at least a couple of years, until I bought my own new computer. There were only 2 effects I noticed: 2 rear USB ports stopped working, and the D-Sub output on the GPU had a reddish tinge (but the DVI was fine).

Powered up a motherboard without the processor installed. Made a loud pop and died.

there's more to this story, because that's something you can do.

I don't believe I've ever done anything overly bad to my computer. The only thing I can think of recently is not paying attention when I put in a USB drive in my laptop. pretty much snapped the tongue in the port.....(Doesn't work anymore)

Not me personally, but about a decade ago I had an old PC that I sold to a friends older brother..
Anyway, he found out about lapping heat sinks, so he decided to make my old computer run heaps better to prove to me that he got a really good deal, by making it run faster, cooler and more stable... I sold it to him cheap, see it wasn't a terribly reliable PC and he knew this, but believed he would "tweak" it a bit to make it an awesome rig. So some time later I was around his place visiting my mate, the brother rocks up boasting about how awesome the PC is running and trying to make a mockery of me for selling it too cheaply.. He whips open the case, pulls off the heatsink to show me his amazing lapping skills, and tells me all about the overclock on it and how it's super stable etc.. He then proceeds to go on about showing me some benchmark thing, sticks the heat sink on incorrectly, powers up the PC and within seconds there was smoke pouring off the CPU... well me and my mate were pissing ourselves and almost got the crap beaten out of us... but it was certainly a memorable computer stuff up.. ![]()

Had a 100meg drive sitting on top of the drive cage in a fliptop desktop case once upon a time. I bumped it and it slipped off the side of the cage and the contacts for the drive motor arced. End of that drive. Had another 110meg drive that i had sitting on the desk standing up on its side. Bumped it and it fell over. Sudden case of the click of death and it never worked again. Since then, I've been as careful with drives as a surgeon with a donor heart.

My biggest mistake was keeping XP longer than necessary while having Vista Ultimate 64 on Disc in an unopened package. Can't understand the hatred toward Vista, It runs very well for me, it's quick and very snappy and leaves XP for dead.

Spilled water on it - killed the motherboard. Ended up having to spend like $30 to get all the parts tested and $85 on a new motherboard. Needless to say, I don't put any drinks on the computer desk anymore.

I chucked my old PC out once with my windows 98 disk in it and I had to go back through the trash and get the whole pc out so I could pry open the optical drive. that kind of sucked.
