Default Truecrypt corruption

I am going to be travelling to Myanmar and have been experimenting with truecrypt for ahhh.. reasons... reasons aside, the volume is on an external e-sata drive and the power supply has gone down a couple time while the truecrypt volume was mounted.

Now it complains of a corrupt volume and suggests I run Chkdsk every time I mount it... but this does not seem to when truecrypt attempts to auto run chkdsk, or me running it from the GUI or the cmd line with admin privileges. The faq for truecrypt seems to blithely state it will run all file scanning software seamlessly... alas not. Any pointers ?
