Hi all,
So I built my PC today. It's all working except a couple things (please bear with me, I know almost nothing about PC's) - The computer is not recognising my graphics card, do I need to install anything? - What do I need to be able to connect to the internet? I can connect fine on my Mac which I am using now. Do I need to purchase anything separate in order to access my wireless internet? Again, please assume I know absolutely nothing about PC's. Thanks |

With regards to the graphics card
Is the: 1) Power plugs in for the Graphics Card? You see here: (it's the 2 * 6 plug) http://techreport.com/r.x/gtx260-vs-...ower-plugs.jpg 2) The video cable plugged in to the graphics card(not the motherboard)? ______________ With the wifi 1) Depends on the motherboard, and if your motherboard doesn't have wifi you have to buy a Wireless Lan Network Card OR a Wireless Lan USB If possible, can you post your computer specs?

Have you installed the driver disk that came with your mother board? YOu will likely need to plug your motherboard into your Wifi modem/router AFTER installing the drivers for you lan port

Have you installed all drivers for your components?
If not, your graphics card will only be recognised as a VGA adaptor, not as a gtx560. The same goes for internet connection, it wont work until you install your modem drivers for your mobo |

What power supply have you got?
GTX 560 will usually require more than a "generic came with the case" PSU To connect to wireless like your laptop, you are seeking a wireless network adapter. USB form is fine as is internal form. Depending on the room on your PCI-e Slots, you might want to go USB. Internal - http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/...2.html?sort=2a USB - http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/...6.html?sort=2a Please keep in mind if there is any chance for a "cabled" connection at all, this is what you should go with. You could also look at http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/...5.html?sort=2a as another alternative. Disclaimer: Only linking for example purpose, not brand, retailer or best price, DO your own price and brand research, just pointing to the type of components you need. Support the various site sponsors where possible of course. |
