Default Has anyone not had an issue with Android?

Hey all,

Not trying to start a fight here, I just want to know something.

Does anyone have an Android phone that is reliable? I am trying to find one. I have had the following phones:

1) Milestone 1 - Randomly glitched, froze a lot, required various reboots
2) Nexus One - Dropped reception, drained battery badly
3) Nexus S - Dropped reception, SIM not inserted would come up a lot, requiring the phone to be restarted
4) Galaxy S - Froze, rebooted itself
5) S2 - Dropped messages, phone would be on, friends would call and it'd say the mobile was off

Just wondering if anybody has had a flawless Android experience? I'm not interested in hearing that iOS/W7/your mum is better, nobody cares, i'm just wonder what hardware and software combination works fine and isn't a glitchy piece of crap, so I can recommend a friend an Android phone over yet another iPhone.

Cheers

My One X has been absolutely flawless, even when I was running the stock ROM it was great.

HTC Desire had it for 2 years now and it has been pretty much flawless, my mrs has a OneXL (she previously had an HTC Desire for 2 years as well) and it has been just fucking amazing for the 2 months she's had it. I have a Transformer Prime (not a phone but still an android device and it has been perfect).

Almost all your phones are SS, that might be the problem

Have owned around 5 Android phones, first was an LG running Android 1.5

The only real 'issue' I had turned out to be a fault with my Optus sim card. Once that was replaced all was good.

Currently running a S2 on Telstra prepaid. Everything works great and I actually get reception in most places too. As per usual I run a custom rom- one called 'rootbox' that has been mentioned in the S2 thread on here.

HTC Magic - slow as shit but did the job
Galaxy S - First one I got from Virgin had a dodgy GPU, replaced straight away. The only issue I have with it is the GPS often can take 5mins to get a lock.

Mine have all been pretty good (magic, nexus, s2). The only real issues coming from me being adventurous with ROMs and 'fixing' things that weren't broken

Sometimes my s2 refuses to connect to the network actually, that's usually after a few months of being on. I just restart it and all good again.

HTC Desire (essentially a Nexus One) for almost two years and no issues. It's copped a beating and still works fine. Rode home in torrential rain and got water behind the screen/in the phone to the point where it wouldn't turn on, let it dry for a few days and did a restore, still use it now with no issues.

Dropping reception, SMS's not arriving etc sounds like a network/SIM issue to me. Have you been using the same SIM/provider this whole time?

No issues with my S2 at all. Until I started playing round and rooted it. No issues now, just when I do silly things, which are all my own fault. I had a Desire before that, apart from the crappiest reception ever (even worse than the S2, which is shitful), it was a beast.

HTC Desire HD owner for almost 24 months here

Ive had nothing but dramas with it. As soon as my contract is up Im gonna upgrade to an SIII

electricity leaks from the metal ear grill when its plugged into a powerpoint (fine on usb though). Its like sticking your tongue on a 9v battery when I was a kid haha
Slow as hell, and I mean SLOW
People will call and the phone wont ring, will go straight to message bank
I will send someone a message, and it will end up sending to someone else
Random restarts every now and again
I get an app crash and get the pop up message to force close at least once a week, doesn't seem to matter what app is running
Very slow

My Desire HD had a software bug early on, where the transmitter would get stuck on, and the battery would drain in ~4 hours. Managed to fix it by rooting it (why do I have to root an Android - I thought it was an open platform?). About two weeks after the warranty period, it started screwing up again, but no fix. Drops most calls within minutes, and needs a restart to make/recieve any calls again. Now it's just used for facebook/txting/3G hotspot, and I'm using a $99 Nokia for making and receiving calls. Will be buying the next iPhone - I had one for 2 years, and it was flawless. Also, the Android App store is a joke - the range and quality of the apps is terrible.

TL;DR: I'm moving back to Apple.

EDIT: Tried on both Vodafone and Telstra networks. Everyone else in the house had no reception problems. It's not network related.

It would be helpful if you all told us which carriers you were with as these guys can make phones look bad sometimes.
