Default Quick moon shot

Driving home tonight the moon was glowing brightly in the night sky, so after i got home i ducked out to take a couple of quick snaps.

This is the result:

I remember years ago when i was in high school i did an astronomy assignment to go out and shoot stars. I remember wishing that it was possible to get a good clear view of the moon.... well these days.

2 photo's combined, because you can't expose for the stars and the full moon. Doesn't do much for me due to this fact. You should also fix the CA on the moon.

Nice shot! CA on the moon jumps at me a bit. Is this a composite?

Yeah, its a composite, and a bad one at that, GIMP isn't as nice as CS5/6.

It is however the same piece of sky. I merely "masked" the moon in the stars shot with a 5c coin carefully positioned on the UV filter.

The subsequent layering was done in GIMP and then a crop. Ill redo it in CS6 when the stupid Adobe activation server comes back online and I'm home at the same time. At that point ill be able to fix the CA too (can you tell I'm not good in GIMP?)

Very nice. I think the lighting of the stars sets it off
