Lightbulb Dell debuts new 27-inch U2713HM monitor, its first AH-IPS panel

Quote:
Ahead of its launch, details of the newest addition to Dell's Ultrasharp family of monitors, the 27-inch U2713HM were leaked to the web thanks to a mix-up by the company website's support and drivers section. The details reveal the U2713HM to be a 27-inch monitor with 2560 x 1440 pixels native resolution, based on an IPS LCD panel with LED-illumination and matte black screen surface, with DisplayPort, HDMI, and dual-link DVI for inputs. Most of its other features, including stand design, resemble those of the other launched Ultrasharp series, such as the U2212HM and U2412M.

It's the same resolution as the 2711. You won't see big jumps in resolution/pixel density for a few years yet.

Anyways, it's not a direct replacement for the 2711 either (the same way the 2412 wasnt a replacement for the 2410), because it's LED Backlit and not wide gamut (only 99% srgb coverage).

Dell rep on whirlpool mentioned that the tech to make an LED backlit wide gamut ips screen isn't economical yet.

Hmm,
It uses the same antiglare 3H coating.
The stand allows pivot.
It has usb 3.0, but no card reader.
8ms response instead of 6ms.
So, similar to the differences between the 2410 and 2412M, but the u2412M is $400 cheaper than the 2410, not just $100.

That coating suits the room I use my PC in, very well lit, which looks horrible on glossy screens. It is a harsh coating, but works very well!

No, but Displayport and HDMI 1.4 do.

RRP seems to be $100 less than 2711.

Could be good if its discounted lik ethe 2711 was.. Put it at around $500.
People pay that for OC 120Hz models korean models. Given the inputs, dell stand/build/replacements could be a good buy.

Comparable to:http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/m.../LS27A850DS/ZA

yep it does!

You just need a gpu that can do it, which any HD 7 series gpu and most gtx 670's/680's can.
