Default Gigabyte UD3H - Memory Problem

Hi All

I finished my build tonight but had a memory issue whereby windows 7 ultimate would only recognise 8gb of my 16gb of memory but through CPUz it was there.

My board manual also said there was no support for 1866 memory, only 1600 and below.

Would this be causing the non recognition issue?

Thanks
Sean

No - Z77 doesn't have a memory controller on the chipset, it's built into Sandy- and Ivy-Bridge CPU's.

The 1600MHz spec is based on how Intel rate the controller in your CPU, and has nothing to do with your motherboard.

In practice, the controller is perfectly OK to 2000MHz and beyond.

Re: Your ram - try each stick individually, for starters.

Before you slag the board off maybe we can help you. Your board should be able to accept 32GB of RAM. have you tested each stick seperately?

The memory problem was fixed by a Bios upgrade, I reinstalled the drivers for the VIA and Intel USBs from Gigabyte website and all good.

Last thing which is a pain in the arse is the pic above where my bios appears across my screen on my 37in Panasonic.

Not sure why its happening, going to try it with a different TV to see if its a TV problem.
