Default Nooster's switch build log

so, over the last few months I have been carefully planning my first watercooled rig.

I have contemplated many a different case and layout options and have finaly come to the conclusion of part selection, and onto the build phase.

Over the next few weeks this build will start to take shape and as this is also my first build log I hope that you can bare with me on my journey.

First to start the parts list that will make up this glorious build. Each item will be updated as i recieve them :

PC components:
Have already
  • Motherbord: Gigabyte GB-Z77x-UD3H
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K
  • Ram: G.Skill Snipers PC312800 C9 (2x4GB) DDR3
  • Power Supply: Corsair HX1050
  • SSD's: 1 x Corsair F60, 1 x OCZ Agility 3 120Gb
  • Storage: 3 x WD 10EALX-089BA1 1Tb
  • Graphics: Gigabyte HD7950 3Gb
  • Case: NZXT Switch Matte Black


Watercooling parts:
Have already
  • Straight compession fittings: Bitspower G1/4 Matte Black 1/2 Compression Fitting CC5 x 12
  • EK-PSC Adapter 90° G1/4 Black x 3
  • GPU Block: EK-FC7950 - Acetal+EN (Nickel) and Black EK 7950 back plate
  • Angled compression: Bitspower G1/4 Matte Black Dual Rotary Angle 1/2 Fitting x 4
  • CPU Block: XSPC RayStorm
  • Tubing: PrimoFlex Pro LRT Tubing White 1/2ID 3/4OD x 10ft
  • Pump: XSPC D5 Vario Pump
  • Res: XSPC D5 Dual Bay Reservoir
  • RAD 1: XSPC EX240 Multiport Radiator
  • Rad 2: XSPC EX360 Radiator
  • Fan Controller: Lamptron FC5 V2 Fan Controller
  • Fans: 10 x Swiftech Helix 120mm



ALL PARTS HAVE ARRIVED


Plus a few bits a peices (eg lighting various other fittings).

Along the way i will also be doing a "few" mods to the way the case looks and feels will update with some pics soon.

Default first pics of build progress

So just a small addition of some pics at this stage.

one of how the sleaving looks (have resleaved the PSU in carbon) and the other is a teaser of some mods i have started on with the case .

the potato i was using doesnt have manual focus however when i get my ass to the shop for some batterys i will take better pics.

as for ATI is dead, Having a Intel and a AMD sticker would look a bit strange would it not? hence the reason for the ATI sticker :P

Default new parts arrived

so today I was gloriously greeted at my door with a man baring gifts
(in otherwords the postie came)

EK-PSC Adapter 90° G1/4 Black x 3
GPU Block: EK-FC7950 - Acetal+EN (Nickel)
Black EK 7950 back plate

will upload some pics soon, the rest should start arriving in the next week or so

just waiting on some things to come back into stock (ETA is 20/08 apparently) and then i can start to get the build going

Looks like a nice build mate

I have a pair of the GB 7950 3gb's and want to block and back plate them. Are they classes as reference design pcb's or after market when ordering blocks?

If they are rev 1.0 they are reference versions. afik gigabyte have only released 1 version of the HD7950 so you should be right

Just received word from the wife I have 2 large parcels awaiting me to get home from work let the fun begin!!

now to cut that stupid little plate out with my trusty Dremel, and to start putting it all back together again
