yes matt, he has been offered several solutions that allow him to image his hdd, even while online, but given the situation, somewhere along the way, the OP needs to take on board some of these suggestions so he is protected.
i messaged him with an offer of help, to suggest he get hold of another good hdd, and i would supply him with a copy of Casper hdd to hdd imaging software so he could plug the new hdd into a dock, or external hdd caddy and hook it up to the pc, and he could then use casper a couple of times a day to do fresh images over to the new hdd, and then if the old hdd does have an issue, its just a matter of putting the new hdd into the pc, boot it up, and away it goes, will only be offline for a few minutes at most to swap out the hdd.
i just found it incredibly hard to believe that he cant even get a few moments to carry out any of the suggestions, given that some of them can be done while the pc is still active.
surely the pc box can be moved at least, just to make it a bit more accessible.
anyhow, my apologies if i seem to be harsh on him, it wasnt my intention.
